We have brought fun and excitement and mixed it in with the beauty and cultural experiences the lake has to offer. We depart from our office in Panajachel and head over to the colorful village of Santa Catarina Palopo. In this village we are able to see and learn about local weavings, blankets, nahuales and other goods made and sold by the locals. At the plaza of this village, we visit a local coffee house where you can grind your own coffee and taste the locally grown beans. Once finished in Santa Catarina we hop back on our ATVs to the village of San Antonio Palopo. We visit local ceramic factory where we learn about the process to make all these incredible goods. We also visit a local chocolate factory in San Antonio where we learn about the process...

We visit a local Ceramic factory to learn about the process and see how it is made. we also visit the local Chocolate factory, the dock and shops by the water
Santa Catarina Palopo
During this stop we are able to learn and see local weavings, clothing, blankets, and many of the local goods made at this village. We also visit the local cultural center where we can taste some local coffee and chocolate, and lastly head over to the dock where we can do some shopping or grab a snack and drinks at the waterfront restaurant.

Lovely way to see lesser known side of the lake

5.00Really fun way to see the villages on that side of the lake. ATVs were very safe and comfortable. In addition to the leader, there is a motorcycle that runs ahead to stop traffic as needed. This is mostly on city streets and the open road between villages. The chocolate, ceramic and weaving stops were nice - educational. I would say the only downside was there was considerable lingering at each stop and at a couple they were really selling, and wouldn’t always leave you alone. If each stop would’ve been about 15 minutes shorter, in my opinion, it would’ve been better.

5.00Loved riding the streets and was interesting scenic spots. Bring cash for coffee, ceramics, chocolate, etc. our guide Pedro was fantastic and so knowledgeable and patient. The experience was Well worth it

5.00Quite funny, the guides very attentive to the safety of everyone friendly and detailed with the explanations. The workshops are very enriching and the detailed experience dealing with women mesh making textiles is unique, hear their stories of them and be able to reach in a very fun way

5.00What a fun way to see villages and demonstrations we wouldn’t have seen if it wasn’t for Yeshua and his vast knowledge. We felt safe and are still talking about how great it was. Highly recommend!

5.00It was so much fun! Getting to ride atvs up and down a winding mountain side into smaller towns of Guatemala was awesome. Out Guid Nemi was very knowledgeable and spoke in English extremely will and with him being our guid we (my wife and I) felt extremely comfortable we didn’t feel rushed or felt uncomfortable. I would definitely book with them again! Thank you to Nemi and Simon tours for an excellent experience!

5.00I had a super fun tour with Pedro as my guide! I was lucky that on the tour was myself and one other person, so Pedro took his time explaining everything and even took us to a few extra spots for excellent views. (He was an excellent photographer for us!) Pedro was attentive making sure we were safe and that we understood how to operate the ATVs. He was super knowledgeable. He often helped the workshoppers translate and communicate with us. You can tell he loves his job and thus, helped me love Atitlán even more. It was my first time riding an ATV so beginners are welcome to Simoon Tours. Santa Catarina Palopó and San Antonio Palopó felt less touristy than the other pueblos around the lake, making them feel more quaint and less commercialized. Being with a guide made navigating them much easier. You get to avoid the crowds and see more locals.
10/10 experience I recommend
