With a depth of more than 3000m it is the deepest inland water body in Africa. Lake Chala Safari Camp is a beautiful private game reserve overlooking Lake Chala. You’ll arrive there and our guide will take you down to the lakeside, through vividly green flora, with the blue, blue lake ahead of you. Its water is incredibly clear and plenty of fish can be seen, but swimming is not recommended.
The walk at the lake offers interesting views, but is a bit challenging. It is common to spot lizards, baboons, different species of monkeys and snakes. At Lake Chala Safari Camp there is nice bar at the lake view where you can enjoy your drink after your Lake Chala Day Trip.

5.00It’s a bit of a drive to Lake Chala, but worth it. Lake Chala is beautiful, and has some good, easy hikes around it. We did a hike one way to the top of one part of a crater where you can step into Kenya and back into Tanzania, which was cool. The we did a hike below to the water table where you can admire the views, kayak, or swim. If I had more time and brought swimming gear, I would have swam probably. Overall, great, easy tour I would recommend if you had half a day.

5.00I really enjoyed the trip. The lake and its surroundings are diverse and beautiful and absolutly not crowded. The staff was actually on time for my pick up (which is rare here in Tanzania😅). Also they let me freely decide how to spend the day (which hike/activities, how much time to spend where, etc.) All in all they were very friendly and did their best to make me feel comfortable. I would really recommend this trip, because (compared to other trips I did with other companies) this trip was well organized, not that expensive (even though I was alone on the trip) and the car was in good condition.

5.00I went to Lake Chala with KLM safari in January 2020. I had an awesome day. Elly the guide picked me up at my hostel in the morning. We had a 2,5 h drive to get to the lake. The roads until Himo had been really good. There after the roads got more worse, but he is a real good driver. On the lake we had a 30 min walk to get to the water. It was awesome walk to get there and the water is amazing, clean and blue. We had some time to relax there and had some nice conversation. Thereafter we went to the viewing point and had our lunch. We had been back in Moshi around 4:30 pm. I enjoyed the trip very much and do really really recommend Lake Chala.
