• Amazing tour with Star Travel…book it!!

  We booked a tour for lake Myvatn, Goddafoss and Dettifoss. As no one else had booked, we had a private tour with Siggi who was a fantastic and knowledgeable guide. We saw epic waterfalls, mud pools, lava fields, an underground thermal pool, just lots to see in one day! Siggi provided crampons for our short hike to Dettifoss and Selfoss which made walking so much easier! Our lunch stop at Myvatn baths was delicious…try the goulash (had a free refill) and local smoked trout on rye bread. Take the stress out of hiring a car and doing it yourself by booking a tour, especially in winter as the road to Dettifoss still had snow and ice on the road. We were exhausted by the end of it and totally worth the money! Thank you Siggi and Star Travel 🤩

  Sigi was an amazing guide, very knowledgeable, interesting and engaging. Looked after us very well, noted our concerns about walking on ice (crampons provided) and made an extra stop for us to see part of the lake we asked about and had previously visited in summer. Lunch stop at Myvatn nature baths not specifically mentioned in itinerary but lovely place to stop for lunch. Smoked trout very good! We will book again with Star Travel and hope to get Sigi again.

  We had Siggis as our guide. He was great explaining things and taking time with us. We also had him for a northern lights tour that went amazing!

• Stunning landscape and magnificent waterfalls

  We had a very friendly and knowledgeable guide named Hjalmar. As there were only three of us in the group so the timing for visiting the sights were more flexible. He rearranged the sequence of the sights so to avoid the crowds. He was very kind getting us some delicious local geothermal bread with smoked trout to try. Also gave a helping hand with the photographing. Overall it was a very enjoyable tour and with great travel group.

  This was a really big tour! Five of us in a land rover or similar. Guide Hjalmar put a lot of effort into showing us the sights and a few extras. It turned into a long day but well worth it. A stop off to see puffins, great lunch place, got totally soaked at the majestic Dettifoss, bubbling mud, a geothermal plant, more waterfalls, views of the lake and the fjord coming back into Akureyri. He then offered to take us to an ice cream place but most of us were too exhausted to go! I went later though (after a soak in the town pool), and it was a good recommendation. Great tour.

  We had a wonderful day taking in north Iceland’s beauty! Reynir was an excellent guide and very communicative in lead up to the trip. We had to change our itinerary due to road closures, and the alternate sites did not disappoint! On top of it all, Reynir brought us to a great restaurant for lunch that is owned and operated by a local farm. Highly encourage you to book!

  Well I booked a flight with Iceland air to fly there for the day. The night before less than 24 hr the tour was canceled due to weather. I’m out the flight money for 2 people can’t get that back. Very upset that they didn’t canceled 24 hrs before I feel some one should at less give me some money back Don’t book with Iceland air no refund and no he tour company should of cancelled why before less then 8 hrs before that flight. We all see the weather on the tv new the storm was coming.

  We had been fearful that this tour had too much for one day, but Thor's calm demeanor and well-timed stops made it all easy. As a local, Thor had some great stories about the area and its people, but was quiet when he didn't have anything interesting to say. We made a special trip to Akureyri to take this tour, but the combination of great things to see (waterfalls, thermal areas & beautiful scenery) and sunny weather made it all worthwhile.

  It was amazing. Very packed day, so so much that we saw, and had wonderful ice cream and lunch. Such a packed day!
