Xintiandi
Find your way to the Huangpi Nan Road metro station in Shanghai, and meet your guide and group at 8:30 p.m. Depart on foot for the Xintiandi area, and make your first stop at a local restaurant serving up the best hand-pulled and knife-cut noodles made by ethnic minority (Uyghurs) in the city. Find a table among the locals, then taste the famous dish and participate in an in-depth discussion on the flavor and consistency of the broth, the quality of the meat filling, and the texture of the dumplings' skin. Learn about the history of this dish as a Shanghainese staple.
Former French Concession
Continue to the famous Zhaozhou Road, one of the most popular night market where world-famous chef Anthony Bourdain stumbled upon, approximately 15 minutes' walking distance. See the border where French-style apartments suddenly give way to traditional Chinese stone door houses (Shikumen). Visit three restaurants in the neighborhood to try local dishes and see how the native city residents eat and live.
Your tour starts at 8:30pm, and please meet up at Exit 2, South Huangpi Road Station (Shanghai metro line 1).

With a short transit and travelling solo, I booked this tour on a whim to taste some of Shanghai’s delights and see some of its nightlife. It was well worth it! Helen was an amazing guide, making me feel very welcome and catering to my no pork dietary needs. Helen showed us so much variety from local sesame noodles to Xinjian BBQ. All with beer, sweets in tow! Thank you Helen; I loved it! <3

Jade was a great tour guide. After spending 2 weeks in China, we had already thought we had eaten all the Chinese food we could possibly find, but Jade showed us some new spots. We started out at a nice restaurant with some of my favorite food from the whole trip. We then walking around Shanghai to find some other local spots that had equally delicious food and beer.

I had a fantastic time on the recent Shanghai tour led by Jim. He was an excellent guide, sharing lots of interesting facts about the city and answering all our questions with ease. Jim took us to some great local food spots and a brewery, places we wouldn’t have found on our own. The food was delicious, and Shanghai’s vibrant energy really came through. Jim did a wonderful job showcasing the city, and I’d highly recommend this tour.

We took this tour on our first night in Shanghai and it was the perfect introduction to the city, food, history & highlights. Our guide, Serena was amazing! We ate many different examples Shanghai food including noodles, dumplings, dessert, fruit, skewers & vegetables. We also got to drink different beers too. Everything was delicious and there was plenty. Serena was so lovely! We learnt a lot about cooking and culture from her - it was very interesting and insightful. Thank you for a great night Serena!
