Le Morne Brabant is more than a mountain, it is a powerful symbol of freedom in Mauritius. By booking with Local Spirit, you directly support a local company rooted in Le Morne village.
Many can guide the path, but not everyone can share Le Morne the way we do. Since 2014, we have worked exclusively with guides from the village, creating employment for local families and contributing to community initiatives, including activities for seniors and educational support for local schools.
Our mission goes beyond guiding a hike. We aim to offer an authentic, respectful, and memorable experience , one that stays with you long after you leave Mauritius.

Our professionally trained mountain guides prioritize your safety first. More than just a hike, this experience combines scenic walking, light scrambling, and cultural storytelling. Along the trail, your guide will introduce traditional medicinal plants and share insights into Mauritian culture. The hike begins with a steady walk through beautiful landscapes. Higher up, one steeper section adds a touch of adventure. It is not a technical climb, and your experienced guides will support you every step of the way. Reaching the summit brings a true sense of achievement.

5.00We booked the afternoon slot last minute (day before). This was for the Le Morne Brabant Hike. After turning up at the meeting point we were greeted by Greg. If we just me and my wife doing the tour, which was great. Greg was amazing at his job. He was very informative, giving us the history of the Le Morne mountain. He was all very helpful and encouraging. Parts of the hike were quite hard, it was a struggle but the views at the top and the feeling of accomplishment made it all worth it. Greg even gave us extra water and called our taxi driver to let us know we had finished the hike earlier than planned. Thank you Greg for your great customer service, from Mr Jack & Sophie. 5.00Great experience. I totally recommend this hike, certainly a little physical but totally feasible, even for non-sportsmen. Our guide Greg was great, and taught us a lot. Go ahead!!!

Challenging hike for beginner but worth the challenge

5.00I was travelling solo, and decided I wanted to hike Le Morne, after already hiking the Tamarin falls. As only my second hike in life (lol), the second part of the climb was challenging.. very. Greg our guide, was incredibly patient and reassuring. I don't think I would have been able to complete it without his assistance and gentle encouragement. It was definitely worth it, and I'd happily do it again :)

5.00We did two hikes with Local spirit , one to the top of Le Morn Brabant , the second to the 7 waterfalls The first excursion with Allan. Iconic character , deeply linked to the territory and in particular to the mountains starting from his descendants . It made us appreciate in depth the island and its beauties with fascinating anecdotes and stories. The landscape is extraordinary in itself. Enriching it with the right emotions transmitted by the locals is priceless. The second one, with Divya , a young girl who loves the territory and nature , we had a beautiful day of trekking in a wonderful place reliving the same positive feelings we had the day before on the mountain .

5.00Le Morne hike / climb Oct 2025 • Couples We had an amazing hiking with guide Elando, at the beginning, the group was splited in a fast & slower group, your choice. We chose the faster group as we are used to this kind of activity, and it was the perfect choice. This is part hiking, part climbing, and is quite tricky and slippery at times, so having Elando guiding us was fantastic and safer, especially coming down. I'd strongly recommend as a fantastic challenge and breathtaking views.

5.00Fantastic hike with guide Elando, after a 10 min hike the group was separated into a fast & slower group, your choice. We chose the slower group as wanted time for photos, breaks & enjoy the experience. Perfect choice for us, as a group of 7 Elando ensured we made it up & down the mountain as a group, with a real sense of achievement. This is part hike part climb, and is quite tricky and slippery at times, having Elando guide us exactly where to put our feet was fantastic, especially coming down which is safely done sitting down in places. Definatly need trainers or hiking boots. Not a very physically challenging climb if you take your time but certainly challenging and hard on the knees. Not for anyone who is scared of hights. I would strongly recommend as a fantastic challenge and breathtaking views
