This tour is designed to show you the complicated heritage of World War II and its lasting impact on the province. You will learn about the inhumane system of forced labor and human suffering in the former Concentration Camp of Gross Rosen, you will visit a mysterious complex of underground tunnels whose purpose still eludes historians to this day, and you will discover facts about German aristocrat Helmuth James von Moltke, who established an anti-Nazi resistance group which became an important symbol in Polish-German reconciliation. The tour starts in the state museum and a former German Nazi concentration camp of Gross Rosen. Originally a sub-camp of Sachsenhausen, from 1941 it became the largest fully autonomous camp in the Silesian province and was known for its deadly work conditions in the granite quarry. Find out about the German state's machine of brutal forced labor and human annihilation. Experience the sobering feeling of visiting the former SS Cantine building, field crematoria, and memorial site while taking some time to reflect upon approximately 40,000 victims of Nazi terror.

This tour provides driving to the 2 destinations 1) KL Gross-Rosen 2)Project Reise at Owl mountains Driver does not do the touring at these destinations, but entrace tickets are included. KL Gross-Rosen - a “small” informative museum before tour of camp - staff at the camp did the touring of the whole camp which was very informative. - not as rushed as in an another well known Polish camp, infact no rushing at all - time to see and ask questions - restrooms at main building - good surface to walk on the camp tour, stairs only if basements or main building visited Project Riese - staff at the destination does the touring - helmets are compulsory to wear during tour, and are provided without extra cost. - flashlights are not provided, but an own would be good to have since not well lit at times - sturdy shoes and not slippery, since quite damp surface and metal stairs at one point. - steep metal stairs inside the tunnels had to be used at one point ( railing present, but damp) - not for ppl with fear of being underground or being in “tunnels” - “tunnels” are wide, but heigt is at times approx 170cm - small souvenir shop at ticketoffice (card payment possible) - a cafe/restaurant/restrooms at ticket office - stairs only inside tunnels - a short walk to tunnel entrance from ticketoffice Driver for this tour - prompt meeting at hotel - kind/ friendly with good english skills and knows a lot of Wroclaw and surroundings history - prompt pickup at the 2 destinations after the tours - possible lunch stop - true gentleman doing his best to make your day unforgettable - not compulsory, but a tip is much appreciated - Thank You for my experience
