In the shadow of the Battle of Nations Monument lies one of Germany's most impressive surface monuments : the Leipziger Südfriedhof. Already at the end of the 19th century a park-like cemetery complex with spectacular tombs was built here.

Between ancient trees and lush rhododendrons, there are not only imposing buildings, mausoleums and sculptures, but also the largest columbarium north of the Alps. Many tombs reflect the need for representation of the wealthy citizens of Leipzig, even beyond death. Some testify to fame and honor, some to rise and fall, some to war and misery.

Better than any city tour! We had booked a private tour with Dirk and loved it. Beautiful old cemetery with winding paths and hidden graves. Our guide was well versed and answered even the stupidest question charmingly.

Cemetery is located five kilometers outside the city center, but is worth the drive. Dirk explained the way very well and was a competent guide. Highly recommended.

Anyone who knows Hamburg-Ohlsdorf will love this cemetery. Huge park with mausoleums and tombs. Dirk was a competent guide, we were very pleased with the leadership.

Relaxed autumn walk through the wonderful Leipzig Park Cemetery. Our guide was well informed and could tell us exciting stories about old Leipzig and its wealthy citizens. We thought the tour was very special.

We didn't want to believe it, but the cemetery is really great. Dirk told us many interesting stories about the facility and its "occupants". 90 minutes is actually too little to explore the huge area. Thanks for the exciting guided tour!
