Bled Castle is more than a thousand years old and one of the most spectacular castles in Slovenia, perched high above the calm waters of Lake Bled. You will be able to admire the view of Lake Bled from various vantage points of the castle.
Pssst... we will show you some of the best viewpoints from where you can enjoy a magnificent view of Lake Bled and the island of Bled and take beautiful photos.
During your trip to Lake Bled, treat yourself to a ride on a traditional pletna boat to Bled Island, one of the top attractions in Slovenia. Pletna boats are unique on Lake Bled and are steered by a single oarsman with two long oars. After the boat ride, you will have some time to explore the small island and enjoy the breathtaking views of the surrounding area. Optionally, you can visit the Church of the Assumption of the Virgin Mary and even ring the wishing bell that has been ringing over Lake Bled since 1534.
You can also take a short walk along the shore of Lake Bled and watch the majestic swans and playful ducks swimming on the lake. Or you can relax and take a break in one of the cafes - where you should definitely try kremšnita, the traditional Bled cream cake.

5.00Lovely half day trip to Lake Bled with our guide Lukas. Picked up on time in a lovely clean minivan for a smooth drive out of the city to Bled. Lukas gave us plenty of really interesting information about Ljubljana and Slovenia on the way. Dropped off for the pletna boat trip to Bled Island - 20 euros per person extra but an absolute must. Views from the boat are spectacular and seeing the church close up is just lovely. We were lucky to have glorious sunny weather and enjoyed a delicious ice-cream on the island before the relaxing boat trip back. Lukas was waiting to take us to Bled castle where we stopped for an hour. We chose to pay the castle entry fee to go in and explore and get better views - tickets are quite expensive so only really worth it if you are interested in the castle. We had a Quick Look round and then enjoyed a delicious piece of Bled cake. Another smooth drive back to Ljubljana, Lukas answered all our questions and was very good company. Highly recommend this tour.

5.00Very luck that our small tour ended up with my family being the only ones. Tomas was great. Very friendly and informative. He accommodated a slight change to allow us longer at Lake Bled shore as my Aunt would not have been able to go to the castle. Very appreciated.

5.00We did the half day trip to Lake Bled with Tomas and it was fab! Very knowledgeable and passionate tour guide. Plenty of interesting info, put us on a rowing boat to the island with an olympian rower who was a legend too, Jozo. Castle walk and views after with cake you could climb was delicious too. If you're looking for a quality half day trip due to being a bit time poor, this is it! We boarded bus at 2:15pm and back before 7pm for a dinner by the river. Didn't feel rushed at all, although if you want to spend more time in the location, go full day. Half day was perfect for us. Thank you Tomas!
Can't wait to go back to Slovenia

5.00My tour with Gordana on Saturday, May 17 was fantastic!! I learned so much about Slovenian history! During the drive to Lake Bled, Gordana gave us essential facts on the history of Slovenia with very interesting facts on Slovenian politics during the Cold War years. We visited Lake Bled and then Bled Castle. I was really impressed with the beauty of the landscape, the friendliness of Slovenian people and the rich cultural history. I think I may have fallen in love with the country. Thank you Gordana, I can't wait to go back to Slovenia!!

5.00We did this tour on the 6th Dec24 and it was absolutley fantastic ! It's a must do tour if your visiting Ljubljana. Our tour guide (sorry forgot his name) was great. He was very friendly and knowledgeable about Slovenian and European history. We enjoyed his company during the tour. He ensured we were dropped off and picked up on time at the tour locations and we never felt liked we were rushed. He also stopped at a couple of spots which were not on the schedule which we greatly appreciated. Thank you , Slovenia Explorer for an experience we will never forget

3.00lake bled is beautiful, but the weather was awful which put a dampner on the experience. ingrid our driver/guide was very good and knowledgeable but overall I thought it was expensive when basically we only got driven around everything else was to pay for, it also was a little rushed (probably due to the weather) we left at 2.20 and returned at 5.45.
