  • Great view & history

I had an absolute blast on this tour with Nick. He is very knowledgeable about LotR and the Canterbury region, along with being a very considerate guide. Nick had a few props to play with (swords, axe, and Rohan flag) which made it even better. One thing to note is that the Edoras set has been demolished, so you will be visiting where the set was built. if you aren't a LotR fan and want to see some scenic views around Christchurch without having to drive, I still highly recommend this tour. There were a few stops made at different photogenic areas, and even the view from the vehicle was amazing (mountains popping up in the background, Lake Camp etc).

Great tour! I didn’t realize we would have a short stop at a cafe on the way, so I brought my own snacks. Totally unnecessary! The little cafe we stopped at along the way was great. Also, be prepared for a range of weather. It was not too warm and overcast when we started the climb to Edoras, but very warm and sunny by the time we got to the top. I wish I’d brought my visor because I got sunburned! The climb was steep, but not nearly as arduous as I had been led to believe. It was totally doable by everyone in the group, including an 84 year old man. Views from to top of the mountain were breathtaking! Tour guide, Elliot, was fabulous and attentive. Lunch was excellent and plentiful. It was easy to meet up at 66 Gloucester St; the truck was super obvious and the license plate made it even more so (EDORA5). It was a wonderful tour, and I highly recommend it!

This tour was more than I expected. Before visiting the film location of a movie you wonder how real it was and how much was cgi. On this tour you find out Sir Peter took a lot of time and effort to find places that where the perfect sites for the films. As soon as you arrive at Edoras fim location you are amazed at just how stunning New Zealand is. What made this tour so special was our guide Nick. He had great incite into the movies and helped us be a part of its magic. What a great experience.
