Pak Ou Caves
These two caves are located some 25km from Luang Prabang where the Nam Ou River flows into the Meking. The journey on a slow moving longboat to caves is decidedly picturesque. The caves are revered throughout Laos and a very popular place for tourists and pilgrimsalike. There are some 4000 statyes abd statyettes in the caves, mostly of the Buddha, many stukk covered with paper thin gilding. The first cave is reached by a steep staircase from the river’s edge, while the second cave is a little deeper inside the mountain: bring a torchilight!

We had a wonderful experience on the Luang Prabang cruise to Pak Ou Caves and Kuang Si Waterfalls. Everything was very well organized and went smoothly from start to finish. Our guide Tony was extremely understanding, polite, and professional. He took great care of everyone in the group, explained things clearly, and made sure we were comfortable throughout the tour. His attitude and guidance truly made the experience special. All arrangements were perfect, the timing was well managed, and the overall experience exceeded our expectations. Guide Tony deserves 5 stars or even more – truly super good! Thank you for a memorable day in Luang Prabang. 🌅🙏

The Luang Prabang waterfall, cave, elephant sanctuary, and sunset cruise was phenomenal. Our guide, Mr. Pong, is a true hero. The trip itself was great. We swam at the waterfall. The drive to the lunch where we fed two elephants was a little long (1.5 hours), but it is worth it. The lunch was good, but feeding the elephants was a highlight. After lunch, we started the cruise to the cave, and this is where Mr. Pong showed his true- self. On the Mekong River, we came across a commuter boat filled with ~100 individuals. The boat was beginning to sink, and the riders were in a panic waiving at us. Mr. Pong and the boat captain headed to the sinking ship. Almost all of the individuals got into our tour boat while some attempted to swim to shore. We were able to drop the individuals off safely at shore, so the proper authorities could help them further. It was a chaotic scene, lots of people lost their luggage, and the boat sunk by the time we got the passengers onto our boat. Later, we were told that everyone on the commuter boat was accounted for and safe. Understandably, we were all very emotional after the ordeal. Mr. Pong was balancing the safety of his tour participants with saving people in need, and he made the right choice. We ended up finishing the tour with a sunset cruise back to Luang Prabang. Everyone reflected on what we experienced, and each of us gave Mr. Pong a hug as we disembarked the boat. If you can ignore what happened during our tour with the sinking boat, the tour was great. The highlights were swimming in the pool at the waterfall (the ground is rocky so maybe wear flip flops), feeding the elephants, and the watching the sunset while on the boat. Mr. Pong is a great guide, and he showed himself to be an even better person.

I had a great time at Kuang Si waterfalls with Mr Pingpong and his lovely group. A bit of a situation where another boat crashed but Mr Pong handled the situation great and got everyone to safety. The highlight of the trip was swimming in the waterfall and the amazing sunset at the end of the trip.

What a wonderful experience with Mr Pingpong. My wife and I decided to take the boat passage back to Luang Prabang from Nog Khiaw. It was a mix of boat, (with amazing views and a perfect calmness) up to the dam. Then a brief stop off and a chat with the locals before a mini van drove to the elephant sanctuary for lunch and elephant hugs. We then hopped on another boat to visit Buddha cave, whiskey tasting and then sunset boat cruise to moor at the banks of Luang Prabang. Mr Pingpong was not only warm and friendly, he knew, remembered and addressed everyone by name, he was personal and incredibly funny. Should you ever need or want to use the same passage as we did, as for Mr Pingpong to be your guide. He is a laugh a minute and will look after you. Scott & Jenny - UK ✌️☮️🙏

The Luang Prabang cruise was the highlight of our trip to the resort town , thanks to the excellent management of Mr Ping Pong's visits to the Hmong village, the Kuang Si waterfalls, the buffet lunch next to the Mekong river, the cruise down the Mekong, the whisky tasting and the running Pak Ou caves. Personally, I think without Mr Pong's expert shepherding us from one venue to another we would not have been able to see so many things and have such a good time. The credit of course goes first to Luang Prabang's natural wonders. But Mr Pong knew what he was doing and did it very well. I strongly recommend Manifa Travels and specifically Mr Pong as tour guide

Mr.PingPong was a great guide, funny and helpful. Each stop was timed great, enough time to see everything but not too long to sit and wait. Recommend this tour.

It was a good day and tour. We went to the waterfalls and despite the weather not being too hot we swam in the waterfall pools and it was very good (if you have watershoes, bring them with you). We also paid a short visit to the Hmong village, saw, pet and fed an elephant at the lunch venue, visited the caves and the whiskey village, plus had a cruise back. Mr Pong kept people entertained and it was a very good day and tour, thank you.
