From Nam Ou Bridge, 30 km north of Luang Prabang, morning half day cycle approximately 14 kilometers along the Nam Ou and Mekong rivers to Manifa Elephant Camp. Ride through the beautiful Luang Prabang countryside on our new, well-maintained mountain bike Trek Marlin7. You can also take a shower and change clothes. Afternoon options vary depending on selection. (1) Morning only tour. End at 2 pm (2) 2 hours kayaking to Pak Ou Caves. followed by a boat trip back to Luang Prabang (this option does not visit the caves in the morning) End at 6 pm (3) Kuang Si Waterfalls. It was a very organised trip that helped us understand the Laos culture and landscape. An earlier pick up (08:10) than the advertised )08:20 -08:45) which caught us off guard when we received a chaser call. Our guide (Gok) was a real inspiration who was very knowledgeable, positive and interesting keen to answer any questions we may have. We were particularly moved by the cycle through UXO mine exploration and the knowledge of the “secret war” which prompted us to visit the centre on our return, “Gok” arranged our drop off. A fantastic trip which ended with a buffet lunch overlooking the Mekong. Brilliant!

This is a bit of a different review. We booked with Manifa Travel to do the mountain biking and kayaking whole day tour. Manifa picked us up on time and our guide Kone was very happy and informative. We set out biking and had the wonderful knowledge of Kone explaining what we were seeing on the route. Unfortunately my partner fell from his bike down a rocky slope and grazed both his knees. He was bleeding a lot and Kone immediately checked on him and administered basic first aid then he phoned for the car where two other members came and assisted us with more first aid and to take us to the local hospital where my partner received 5 stitches in his knee. The whole time Kone and the team at Manifa Travels were so supportive and caring for the both of us. They are a very professional company and even though our day did not go as planned, we are glad we booked with them. We are very thankful for how they cared for my partner.

Nice biking tour if you don’t set your expectations too high. We encountered native Laos villages and connected with locals. If you’re only interested in mountain biking and doing trails then don’t book this. Bikes are OK and the track is quite steep at some points but not as killing as some wrote (my wife managed this so it’s doable;). Provision of water and showers and great lunch after the trip.

I got this when I tried to cancel: We're sorry, an error has occurred. And then there was no way to contact TripAdvisor. I finally got in touch with the operator and told them to cancel, but they showed up anyway. They had a truck full and I told them I would reach back out to TripAdvisor.

We LOVED everything about that tour, from start to finish! It felt magical, and we liked to discover Luang Prabang by doing sports. Our guide Vone was very lovely, although not very fluent in English.

Year Xiong was an excellent tour guide! It was a fun 3hr ride. Don't expect traditional trails on this since it's 60% road and 40% dirt roads. Still worth the experience seeing the culture and making stops along the way.

I have struggled with this review for days. The things that were good were very, very good. The things that were bad were horrid. First the good: Our guide, Vong, was excellent. He was knowledgeable, experienced, and took very good care of us. He made sure, at every turn, we were safe, and enjoying the tour. He shared his experience, and immense knowledge, of having been a monk. That meant a lot to us. The set up for this company is a full service compound including a buffet area where a variety of tours leave from. As hokey as it sounds, it works. Now, the bad: we did the “mountain biking” trip. The bikes they provided were good, solid, mountain bikes. We were hopeful. The first half of the trip was spent riding on a shoulderless two lane paved highway. There were semis, dump trucks, and heavy traffic passing us within arm’s distance. It was terrifying. One wrong move by anyone would have been catastrophic. At one point I stopped riding and asked for the tour van to come get me. Vong, and he was right, said we would be turning off onto the “trail” in 8 minutes. I wondered, out loud, how many semis were in 8 minutes. We turned off onto a dirt/gravel road which was the trail. It too was a back road that eventually lead to another paved road. The tour description for the “mountain biking” talked about a trail ride along two rivers. That did not happen. We overheard a discussion later that said it used to go along the rivers, but they changed it. Our kayaking was great. Avoid the “mountain biking.”

Fun way to see the countryside. Best part was my guide, Year Xiong. His English is excellent as his his local knowledge. Year led me to some beautiful scenery along the river and made a brief stop at a small temple and Hmong village.
