Welcoming guests to Kauai since 2007, Luau Kalamaku is Hawaii's only luau show performed “in-the-round,” offering optimal views of the stage. Witness the unearthing of the pig from the traditional imu (underground oven) and enjoy a hula lesson. A craft fair featuring unique items by local artisans awaits on the sprawling lawn. Feast on a delicious buffet of local and familiar favorites and enjoy a Mai Tai from the open bar. The main show tells the amazing story of the ancient Hawaiian legend of Kalamaku “child of the new land." Through laughter, fear, seduction and fire, a new legacy is created, born from the cherished seeds of their ancestors. The theatrical luau show culminates with a fantastic fire dream featuring fire poi balls and traditional fire knife dancing.

3.00I read one should arrive early to het a table up close. We were second in line and our table was quite a ways in the back. We asked to be moved closer and they wouldn’t do it. This experience was quite different than the luau I went to on Oahu which was on the beach and we watched the pig uncovered. It was outside by the beach. This one is covered which was nice as it rained. The food was ok as was the food at my prior experience. It’s hard to make great food for that many people.

4.00Good show, but the food and drink selection was limited and lacking. We also felt that it was a little too crowded for what the staff could accommodate. The cute tents with local vendors outside was a nice touch though.

4.00The show was entertaining, but it was extremely hot in the covered ten show area. Better to book as a group bc we were seated separately after indicating our group. For as many workers they had, the service was mediocre. I had to ask the server for more water twice! Why bc it was very hot under the covered rented area and all of the ten people at the table were thirsty! Didn’t feel the authenticity of the story, very Disney.

5.00We really enjoyed the Luau Kalamaku! We experienced the train ride, buffet dinner and show. It was wonderful to experience the traditional dances and the costumes were beautiful!! Everyone was so talented, I would definitely recommend!
