  We travelled with Emmanuel to 4 hilltop villages - Gordes, Roussillion , Lourmarin and Ansouis. What a fantastic experience. We walked around the villages ourselves which was fine - 90 minutes each in the first two which were the biggest and busiest and then 45 minutes each in the other two. Emmanuel advised us what to look for and at in each village. His problem was parking the van because parking is difficult in these places- so he had to drop us off and then go a long way away and return to the designated pick up spot. He did a fantastic job and the day was brilliant - highly recommended.

• Luberon medieval villages

  The little medieval villages of the Luberon district are really worth a day tour. At this time of the year however (late November) they are a bit like ghost towns as most of the shops are closed particularly at Gourds as it is not tourist season and inhabitants tend to leave. But without a lot of tourists it is easier to admire the architecture and landscape. Our guide Remy was great. My only complaint is that we were in a car with 7 of us and as Australians we are used to fresh air and tend to get claustrophobic and uncomfortable in the closed areas with the same hot air circulating. I am an asthmatic and had to ask to move from the back to the front of the car as I was having trouble breathing. I was pleased to get out of the car at the end. We never understand in Europe and America why houses are so closed up and even in our accommodation travelling through Europe when it is 0 degrees outside we need at least a gap in the window to let some fresh air in and the stale air out otherwise we tend to get sick.

  Fabulous day, Melissa was very knowledgeable and shared information as we went along. The villages were very interesting but all had their unique appeal, and all very beautiful.

  Sebastian was a great guide. He gave interesting commentary on the drive and was a careful driver. The towns we visited provided a good overview of the area. I would suggest that Viator be more clear as to which cities are included on the tour for the day that is booked. We did not visit one town that Viator listed.

  Wonderful day trip. Not rushed with plenty of time to explore the villages. All villages were beautiful and very different to each other.

  This is a MUST-DO tour! Five beautiful villages, each one different. We went on a Saturday which allowed us to visit several fresh food markets. The local olives and cheeses called to us as well as some scarves and local souvenirs. Emanuelle was our driver/guide. We were impressed by his knowledge of history as well as the villages and the topography. There were those in the small group of seven that were interested in the Romans, others in medieval times and the Crusaders and then us who are more interested in WWII and forward. He spoke to each of us with an abundance of information. He also told us about each village we would be visiting, stopped at perfect spots for photos. Roussillon was by far our favorite. Emanuelle was also an excellent driver who didn’t take the curves too fast which was much appreciated! This tour gives the participants a chance to see and enjoy the towns on their own, then have time to ask questions and make comments in the van between stops. Highly recommended

  This was a fantastic day tour and a great way to see the smaller villages in Provence if you don’t want to drive. Thomas was an excellent guide, and I felt like we had a great overview of the region. The trip was well-paced and I felt like we had just the right amount of time to independently explore each village.

  The 4 cities we visited in Luberon were amazing. I am pleased we visited. We felt our driver drove too fast on winding switchback roads and too close to cars in front of our van of 9 people. Also always passing cars on the freeway, sometimes going over the speed limit.
