We’ll collect you before dawn from your Cusco hotel and travel through the Andean highlands to the Inca Trail trailhead. If you’re staying in the Sacred Valley, pick-up will be approximately two hours later.
Ollantaytambo
Enjoy breakfast at a local Ollantaytambo restaurant overlooking ancient stone houses and terraced slopes.
We’ll then drive to the Km 82 checkpoint. The official starting point of the iconic Inca Trail.
Begin your first hike on forested paths, reaching the atmospheric Llactapata ruins just in time for a gourmet lunch. Continue alongside the Cusichaca River, admiring verdant hills and orchids as you make your way to camp.
Arrive at Wayllabamba camp to a refreshing pisco sour or glass of wine, then soothe tired muscles with a hot shower and optional massage before settling in for a sumptuous dinner under the stars.

Start your morning in camp with a hot cup of Andean tea and a hearty breakfast before setting off on a rewarding climb. Trek through pockets of cloud forest, pausing among Polylepis trees whose twisted trunks glow in the mist.
Break for lunch on the open Llulluchapampa plateau, where valley panoramas stretch out beneath soaring peaks.
Then, summit Dead Woman’s Pass (the highest point of the Inca Trail) and take time to admire the sweeping views of snow-capped mountains stretching across the horizon, an unforgettable reward after a challenging ascent.
The descent delivers us to Pacaymayo camp, where hot showers, soothing massages and hearty dinner await, accompanied by mountain-fresh air.

As dawn breaks over the Urubamba Valley, you'll wake to breathtaking views of the Andes and nearby waterfalls before setting out on a two-hour hike toward Runkuraqay Pass, the trail’s second-highest ridge
Visit the Runkuraqay archaeological site before crossing the trail’s second-highest point with sweeping views of the surrounding Andes.
Sayacmarca
From the pass, descend for two hours through fern-filled cloud forest to explore the circular Inca ruins of Sayacmarca, perched beside a high-Andean lake, where ancient stone walls rise mysteriously from the mist and a delicious lunch awaits. Lunch amid ancient stones, then onward through hanging valleys carved by centuries of water.
Arrive at Phuyupatamarca camp, the “City in the Clouds,” perched high above the valleys, and be greeted with a refreshing welcome drink. As you settle in, watch the sun slowly sink behind Machu Picchu Mountain, casting golden light over distant glaciers and the endless ridges of the Andes.

At The Belmond Sanctuary Lodge,
Wake at 5:00 a.m. to watch the mountain sunrise with coffee, then enjoy your final trail breakfast before bidding farewell to the chef, porters, and massage team.
Follow the trail to sweeping agricultural terraces. Learn how the Incas shaped the slopes for farming and views across the Urubamba Valley.
Enter a pocket of cloud forest with orchids and mossy walls. Explore graceful terraces and vaulted niches set on a steep hillside.
Arrive at the Sun Gate. Take in your first panorama of Machu Picchu framed by rugged Andean Mountains.

From the Sun Gate we will follow Circuit 1 on a gentle descent to the iconic photo viewpoint, then head to the main entrance for your second entry via Circuit 2, a relaxed, guided exploration of the citadel’s plazas, temples, and sacred lookouts
Enjoy an unrushed lunch just steps from the entrance of Machu Picchu at the exclusive Sanctuary Lodge, savoring gourmet dishes in a serene setting with views of the surrounding cloud forest.

Take the bus down to Aguas Calientes and board the Vistadome Observatory Train back to Ollantaytambo, with panoramic windows and an observatory car featuring live music.

5.00It’s hard to put into words how extraordinary our luxury Inca Trail trek to Machu Picchu truly was. From the moment we were met in Cusco by our guides and support team, we knew this was going to be something special, not just a hike, but a deeply moving, flawlessly orchestrated journey through history, nature, and culture. Every detail had been thought of. Our guides were knowledgeable, full of warmth and humor, weaving stories of Incan engineering, ancient rituals, and mountain legends into each day’s trek. They had a sense for when to pause for photos, when to rest, and when to simply stand in silence as the clouds rolled across the Andes. The staff, the team of porters, chefs, and support crew were nothing short of heroic. Somehow, while we hiked with light packs, they would race ahead to set up an immaculate campsite! Reaching Machu Picchu on the final day felt like the culmination of something much greater than a hike, it was a pilgrimage. Our guides secured the perfect timing to enter through the Sun Gate just as the first light hit the citadel. This journey exceeded every expectation of comfort, care, and connection. The professionalism and heart of every guide, porter, chef, and organizer turned a challenging trek into an unforgettable, soul-stirring experience. 5.00This is an amazing way to experience the Inca Trail and Machu Picchu. TreXperience took care of all of the details, and we had a wonderful group of porters, guides (Fernando, Lourdes, Ephraim, Wilbur, and William) and an incredible chef, Julio. Most importantly, the lead guide Roger Calsin really took care of us- waited patiently, pointed out so many things that we would have missed, and spent a lot of time teaching about the Inca culture. He also was our guide for the Cusco city tour, the Sacred Valley tour, and Rainbow Mountain, and really made our week special.

5.00Amazing adventure! Amazing history! Amazing beauty! And, most of all, amazing guide and support staff! Roger was our fearless leader on the Inca Trail and visits to the Sacred Valley and Rainbow Mountain. He is so knowledgeable about the history of the area, the Inca culture and all things nature. Clearly passionate about his work. He is patient, and knows just when to step in to offer support and when to give space. His great sense of humor kept our spirits buoyed even during the challenges including rain and snow(!). The support of the other guides and porters was wonderful too. Everyone made what was surely extremely challenging look easy and seamless (a luxury glamping trip in difficult terrain!). Julio is an amazing chef! Delicious, gourmet, traditional food at every meal! If you are considering the luxury trip, you won’t be disappointed. Can’t recommend Roger and his team at TreXperience highly enough.

5.00EXCELLENT tour! Willian was a very knowledgable guide and full of history. Anything looked at as a need was taken care of immediately. The porters were so kind and worked very hard to make everything comfortable for us. The Chef took great care in providing excellent, hot meals. The massage therapists made sure we were ready for the next day of trekking. :) Willian's assistants were also there to provide knowledge on the trek as well help with additional duties, such as, providing hot showers for us. We could not have asked for a better experience and I would highly recommend doing the "luxury" addition.

5.00Walking the Inca trail is much harder than people describe. It's hard work, especially if you are over 40. Having little comforts like a great bed, a quick hot shower, and a massage at the end of 7 hours of hiking makes a huge difference to the journey. When coupled with 5 star food, it helped us to recover every day. The food was amazing. Our experience could not have been better. Our knowledgeable, interesting, and professional guide Rene led a highly professional team, who made everything great. His offsider, Fernando, was also brilliant. This was a truly world-class team. Arriving at Machu Picchu after 4 days was one of the greatest travel experiences of our lives. It would not have happened without this team. I can't recommend them highly enough. A small tip. Take 2 days to acclimatise to the altitude. It makes a massive difference.

We traveled with our adult son with special needs, and the entire team showed extraordinary care, patience, and kindness. Our guide William Elvis was exceptional—knowledgeable, kind, and an inspiring storyteller. Assistant guides Evangelino and Efrain treated our son like family, forming a true friendship with him. The porters, led by Alejandro, were efficient, cheerful, and always one step ahead. Chef Lucio’s meals were simply extraordinary, and the massage sessions by Marili were the perfect finish after long days of hiking. From seamless transfers to unmatched hospitality, TreXperience made this journey stress-free and unforgettable. 5.00Best ever! The food was beyond fantastic. The trail support went above and beyond. Jose and the assistant guides were awesome. Everybody was very kind. The porters were the best! Chef Daniel gets 5 stars. Jose, Werner, Danilo, Efrain, Jaimie, Fernando, and Lordis all did a great job and were a lot of fun. "Just 15 more minutes!!"
