A gentle paddle safari by kayak or SUP (stand-up paddleboard) that weaves through an untouched mangrove lagoon on Beef Island, Tortola, British Virgin Islands. If you're looking for a short excursion in the BVI, this small-group local-guided tour is perfect. There's an abundance of wild nature in these mangrove forests, also known as 'the nurseries of the sea', which are home to juvenile marine life of all kinds including turtles, stingrays, baby sharks and barracuda. This is a wonderful way to enjoy the pristine BVI ecosystem, see raw nature up close and learn all about the sea, the land and the culture around you.

Paddling either a kayak with one other person or a paddlebard if you have real experience of usingt them. We'll go along the reef and into the lagoon at the downwind end, then make our way back upwind sheltered by the mangrove trees. In the lagoon we will explore different quiet corners, watch passing wildlife, and enjoy the remarkable universe that is a mangrove lagoon. If the season is right, you might also be asked to plant a mangrove seed to help our recovery following the devastation caused by Hurricane Irma in 2017.

5.00Alex was an outstanding guide with a deep knowledge of the local area, mangrove biology, wildlife, and the ecosystem as a whole. His enthusiasm for conservation truly shines through and added meaningful context to the experience. Kayaking across the lagoon and weaving through narrow channels around and even under the mangroves was not only informative but incredibly fun. It was fantastic way to explore the island. Recommend using insect repellent to avoid itchy bug bites.

5.00We enjoyed the personal service from Alex, a native of Tortola. Nice easy paddle and Alex does a great job sharing information about the Island and the mangroves. Highly recommend if you like to kayak or paddle board.

5.00If you want a trip that’s away from the crowds and you love nature then this is the one for you! Alex was brilliant, very knowledgeable about the mangroves and very clear he cares deeply about this area of his home island. He took us right through the middle of the forest, on a private estate so didn’t see another soul the entire time. Dropped us iat Long Beach for the afternoon but can also take you back to the port if that’s what you need. Highly recommend this excursion 👍

5.00We absolutely loved our mangrove paddle with Alex. He was an incredible guide and so knowledgeable, patient, and happy to answer all of our questions. The experience was peaceful, calm, and a perfect way to start our adventures in the BVI. We loved being immersed in nature and learning so much along the way. The paddle itself was very manageable and did not require being super athletic, making it accessible and enjoyable for all ability levels and ages. We highly recommend this experience to anyone looking for a relaxed, educational, and beautiful introduction to the islands.

5.00What a great experience this afternoon! Nice kayaking, a bit on the open sea and then through the beautiful and especially special mangroves. Limboing under these mangroves, a bit on foot to get a good look at the mangroves up close and all this under the guidance of Alex; an inspired tour guide who really knows everything about all this beauty he has lived nearby for so long. We really enjoyed helping to plant new mangroves-seeds' and hopefully beautiful new mangroves-plants will emerge from that! Thank you so much for everything, Alex! 5.00The tour guide was very informative, no prior kayak experience required and the experience is also kid friendly, there was another family in our group with 2 younger kids (5-10) they got through the tour and enjoyed as well.

5.00Fantastic experience, Alex is so knowledgeable and friendly. It was a leisurely paddle through the mangroves in the kayaks. We didn't see much wildlife but that didn't really matter as the scenery and Alex's guided tour made it brilliant.
