Our Manatee Swim tour at Explorida was Voted Trip Advisors 2022 "Top Ten Bucket List Experience in THE WORLD!" Swimming with the manatees is a once in a lifetime experience so do it right! The Explorida Adventure Center offers a large, top notch facility that is climate controlled with indoor changing rooms for your privacy. Our boats are U.S. Coast Guard inspected and certified, which means they are allowed to carry more than 6 passengers, have all necessary safety equipment, and are in tip top shape. Hop aboard one of our safe, comfortable, and clean US Coast Guard certified vessels where you will join your Master Captain to embark on your journey into the Kings Bay refuge waters. Our master captains are trained to find manatees on your manatee tour, even in the offseason, and will deliver the best manatee tour in Crystal River, FL—every time. You will be paired with one of our expert in-water guides who will be with you every step of the way to assist in making your manatee tour safe and memorable. Your in-water guide will also serve as your professional photographer to capture your manatee swim memories, and those photos will be available for purchase upon arrival back to our facility. For this tour, all required gear is included at no additional charge.

Following our private excursion on April 13th to observe manatees, I would like to share my disappointment. We were a group of six (four adults and two children). Unfortunately, despite the high cost of this tour (just over $500), only four of us were able to dive, and visibility was very low, which severely limited our experience. Moreover, the images we had seen before booking had excited us a lot, as they promised a much better visibility of wildlife. The water was so cloudy that we hardly saw the manatees. I understand that conditions can vary, but paying a high price for this experience in troubled water has disappointed us greatly and no partial discounts have been granted for these elements. At the height is that we saw even better manatees in a nature park!
We saw a mama and baby manatee swimming and eating together!

Our family absolutely loved the in-the-water tour where we were so fortunate to see a few manatees munching on the seagrass way up in the narrow channels of Crystal River. Our two guides, who basically both went by Maddy, and Capt. Kelly were so helpful and friendly, making us feel at ease, even when floating so close to these large wild animals. They were patient with us and our boys, one of whom was enjoying this activity as his birthday wish, that this turned out to be a total highlight of our vacation. The manatees themselves moved slowly as they ate, and our guides pointed out that you could hear the baby let our little squeaks, communicating to the mama manatee, if we put our heads underwater just a bit. The tour provided us with wetsuits, dive masks, and snorkels, all of which were in great condition and helped us stay comfortable in the water. There we no other guests on the boat with us during the tour, although there we of course other tour boats in the area doing manatee tours, plus people kayaking by on their own, since you are in a common/public waterway and the manatees are swimming and feeding wherever they choose. We would definitely do this again in hopes of seeing more manatees, but we realize we perhaps got lucky when we were able to be so close to the mama and baby, observing them in the wild. The feeling of floating there, as still as possible, lives on with us as a very special memory. One of our guides let us know manatees can hear a person's heartbeat from up to six feet away, so it was a good sign that they (the manatees) let us hang out and float so close to them!

Topher and Captain Chris were excellent and so knowledgeable. Topher assisted swimmer over to the manatees. We were able to see a manatee the whole time we were in the water. We also got to see one in the springs.

Both the guide and captain were super knowledgeable about the manatees and the environment. You can bring your own camera but the guide got much better pictures. The manatees were awesome and hung out with us for awhile.

Incredible!!! Captain Kelly and Tour Guide Ben were awesome! Late April and even they were surprised at how many manatees we saw. I don’t excel at snorkeling but both our people were great and very supportive. Would absolutely recommend Explorida to see and be with manatees. Was very appreciative of how ecologically-minded everyone with this company is. We booked thru aviator, have always had great experiences with this company as well.

This was one of our favorite experiences of our entire trip! We had no idea what to expect and based off of reviews it seemed to be mostly positive so we decided to book! This experience was absolutely more than we could have asked for. Maddie and Madeline were our guides and Chris rode the boat to help find the Manatees. I was amazed with how much knowledge they shared with us and how much they taught us about respecting the Manatees in their home. We got to see the Manatees up close thanks to our guides help. We also took our 7, 9 and 10 year old. They did fantastic. Our 7 year old decided to stay on the boat but he still enjoyed his experience and said he’d do it again. I also LOVED swimming in the Three Sisters Spring. It was a little cold but I was too amazed with the experience to care. It was perfect. We went mid April and the cost was well worth it. We will be going again for sure.
