Iguana Island is in the Turks and Caicos Islands, a UK Overseas Territory situated south of the Bahamas in the Caribbean. Managed by the Turks & Caicos National Trust, it is the most accessible place in the world to see these unique rock iguanas in their natural habitat, and therefore has become a significant ecotourism destination, with dedicated boardwalks. You meander across a turquoise blue channel before stepping off onto a shore that time forgot and where reptiles rule: white sand beaches, wave-worn coralline coast, silver-topped palms swaying in the wind, and mosquito-filled mangrove swamps with floating upside-down jellyfish. Welcome to Little Water Cay, otherwise known as ‘Iguana Island’.

Turks and Caicos
Mangrove Cay is a haven for marine and bird wildlife. In the channels and shallows surrounding the cay, it’s common to sight juvenile lemon sharks and nurse sharks, small turtles, conch, southern brown stingrays, starfish, and many types of juvenile fish. The sheltering and complex root systems of the larger mangrove trees often hide schools of tiny fish. Birdwatching is also great, and sightings include brown pelicans, green herons, tricolored herons, reddish egrets, and American oystercatchers.

1.00Wasn’t sure what I booked as their website ONLY MENTIONS WHAT YOU SEE ONCE OUR ON THE ISLAND…says NOTHING about how you get out to the island. When you try to get information on the how and the when days before the excursion to make sure it’s something you can do since their description about the excursion and how you get out to the island is nonexistent and the when on when they will pick you up is non existent they don’t communicate with you. Maybe you’ll book an excursion with them and get what you were expecting maybe you’ll book won’t but do you really want to take the chance and get billed $300 or more for an excursion you don’t go on because you’re injured and cannot get in and out of the kayak?? By the way I didn’t know it was an all kayak adventure until we showed up there at which time i immediately told them about my bad shoulder and was told they understand and would take care of everything…apologized their website wasn’t clear and for not communicating back to me….but then stuck me with the $300 charge for an excursion I wanted to go on but couldn’t (torn shoulder). Don’t risk it book through someone else who at least answers your questions and communication exists.

5.00Had an amazing experience on this tour. Everyone was very laid back, having almost as much fun as we were. They were friendly and knowledgeable, keeping us entertained the whole time. The pick up and drop off at the hotel was on time and easy. Highly recommended!
DJ was awesome. Informative and educational while being entertaining. Great tour to see TCI natural habitat.

5.00Went with my mom and we had a great time! No need to be an expert in kayaking. Jean was great! Explained the wildlife, we got to see a conch and some sea turtles! Definitely recommend

5.00We loved this excursion! We went with our elementary school aged kids and everyone had a great time. Our guide was Goat and he was very informative and friendly. Would do this again in a heartbeat.
Definitely a highlight of our trip!

5.00Such a fun experience!!! Traveled with kids age 17 & 14 and they loved it. Saw lots of sea turtles and iguanas. The taxi there and back was super clean and friendly. Tyba was the drivers name and he was wonderful! Our tour guide was Chop. He was very knowledgeable and fun. I’m sure I’ve misspelled their names, but wanted to make sure I gave them a shout out.

2.00Our tour forgot to pick us up so we only got to join a group for the last hour or so. Never got to see iguana island. Mangroves were cool. Would have expected at least a partial refund

5.00Staff is very polite and knowledgeable about the trip and Iguana Island. No need to wear sneakers, flops/sandals are fine. Pickup is fairly prompt, journey start time and end are flexible due the gentle pace of the trip, so be flexible with any plans afterwards. A great experience, lots of fun and beautiful scenery. The kayaking was not intense at all. would highly recommend.

5.00Bring sunscreen. You will see turtles, sharks, iguanas and even a manta ray. You get a knowledgeable guide who will explain the mangroves also.
