Welcome to Marburg, the university town of Germany. The meaning of this historic town is “Frontier Fortress” and it was named after the 11th-century old Landgrafen Palace. You will be greeted by the picturesque views of the river Lahn, a romantic city center, plenty of bars, cafés and restaurants, and a castle facing the town from a hilltop. Explore around the narrow lanes and the half-timbered houses of the old town, sandwiched between a palace and an impressive Gothic church.

This is such an interesting walking tour of Marburg and the surrounding historical sites. Our guide was very well informed and did an excellent job sharing her knowledge. This tour does have a lot of steps however no one in our group which included an age range of 6-71 was unable to complete the tour. Wear comfortable shoes. Well presented tour!

Chris is a wonderful guide, he gave us a thoughtful overview of Marburg history, and how what we were seeing reflected that history.
