How do locals eat? On this food tour we’ll visit one of Guatemala’s biggest markets to taste some of our famous local “Antojitos” and see the variety and colors of fruits and vegetables on market days. Then a hands on experience of making your own criollo corn tortillas with a delicious traditional lunch.

5.00We had the most AMAZING time with Rebeca and Veruska from Kukul Tales! Communication on the front end was extremely informative, easy, and friendly. The tour, in general, felt perfectly tailored to our family and one of the best ways to experience some Guatemalan culture. The whole experience was hands-on, comfortable, and so much fun. My 6-year-old boy ate his body weight in fresh mangoes, And my two girls (ages 8 and 10) are pretty sure they're tortilla making Masters. 😅 The whole morning was filled with memories both my husband and I and our children will carry forever. 100% recommend. My only regret is not having time to do MORE of their other offers. We'll definitely be back.

5.00Wonderful! We highly recommend this tour for a dive into the food markets and a wonderful morning preparing and cooking, then eating, corn tortillas and the local Guatemala toppings . Our guide Veruska was marvelous, so engaging, knowledgeable and fun! Maria, the cook, and her mother and daughter were a delight to spend the morning with.

5.00Veruska was an excellent tour guide. Her English is great and she is very enthusiastic and knowledgeable. We spent time in the market trying different fruits, sweets, and local foods. Basically anything that interested me. After the market we took a tuk tuk to a local home and the owner explained the importance of corn to the Mayan culture. This was followed by making tortillas and enjoying a light lunch. I cannot say enough about this experience, thoroughly enjoyed myself. It was great to learn about the different foods available in the market and my home visit was incredible. Three generations working together to spread their knowledge. If you want a truly enjoyable experience take this tour!

5.00From the very beginning to the end. My decision to book with KukulTales was one of the best decisions I could have ever made. I had only a short amount of time in Antigua just for the weekend and they managed to curate an experience for me that was so immersive and fun at the same time. I want to thank Chef Rebeca de León for her prompt responses and her willingness to give me an opportunity to book one of these tours as a Solo traveler. Onto the experience itself, it was everything I could have asked for. I had the most engaging and entertaining guide in Xoshil. She took me through the busy Market, provided me an informative tour, and we also had tried some delicious snacks with a surprise coffee shop visit beforehand! Furthermore, we had traveled on a Tuk-tuk from the market to the charming Santa Ana neighborhood to meet Maria and her beautiful family. To my surprise I had the opportunity to create some homemade Tamales with everyone and it was exactly what I was looking for. Although I have very little cooking experience, they were encouraging during the whole process and I really started to feel at ease as time had went on. In the end, we created a really delicious meal to share amongst ourselves. Maria and her family were so kind and being with a wonderful guide like Xoshil made it even better. Thank you KukulTales for making my trip so meaningful. I’m leaving Guatemala with a new wealth of knowledge about the culture and most importantly memories I will remember for the rest of my life. Until the next visit.

5.00The market tour and tortilla making was great! Our guide, Xoshil, was super friendly and informative. She navigated through the crazy Central Market like a pro! Sharing her knowledge of all the unique products that were being sold! We stopped at a small restaurant in the market for a sampling of some local Guatemalan dishes! (Which were delicious!) The tortilla making was lots of fun and super informative! I was humbled by how effortless Guadalupe, one of our hosts, made it all seem. The best part is at the end you get to nibble on the homemade tortillas, salsa and guacamole! I would highly recommend and is well worth the cost and time!

5.00Unbelievable experience taking the market tour and tortillas workshop with our guide Rebecca. She went above and beyond and took us on a couple custom experience we will never forget. Our family had such a great time on this experience and would recommend it to anyone visiting Antigua. It makde for a great way to get to know the city and it's people before spending the rest of our time here revisiting places we went on the tour and checking out other recommendations from Rebecca. 10/10!

5.00We had a great time on this tour! The market was fun and the food was delicious. Our guide Xoshil was wonderful. The tortilla making at the finish was really fun as well. Definitely recommend this tour if in Antigua.
