• Great Host and a Fun Class in a Beautiful Setting

  Our inter-generational family ranged in age from 13-79 and we all thoroughly enjoyed the market tour, the cooking and the eating! Margarita's home is beautiful, comfortable and we were able to eat outdoors in her beautiful garden. Margarita does a fantastic job engaging participants, teaching about different ingredients and focuses on dishes we can make at home. This was a great experience to cap off our week in Mexico City!

  We were greeted by a lovely soul. Margarita was exceptional in her kindness and explaining questions we had regarding the foods. She took us to the market and explained various Mexican foods eaten in her culture and what they’re used for as well. Her welcoming sense of comfort was lovely as was her spectacular home/kitchen. She’s incredibly organized and very prepared. When initially signing up for this adventure, I specifically mentioned I wasn’t a meat eater, but my two family members were. At the drop of a hat she figured everything out for accommodating me without any concerns. I felt completely taken care of. From the appetizers we prepared to the main course and dessert; it was exceptional. Helping prepare all the food was so enjoyable. The wine(s) were from Mexico and very good. Come with an appetite! You’ll leave happy and full. We even had the pleasure of meeting her lovely husband who joined us for dinner. Our stay was wonderful. Great conversation and such amazing souls!

  I am a long time fan of Traveling Spoon and have had amazing experiences in other countries. For my niece's 40th birthday, she decided she wanted to visit Mexico City. I suggested Traveling Spoon for a unique experience. And what a wonderful experience it was. Margarita welcomed us into her beautiful home filled with art. We visited the local market and spoke with vendors while Margarita taught us about all the fruits and vegetables we were seeing. Once home, we began cooking and laughing and talking for hours. I learned so much, ate delicious food and had a warm, wonderful afternoon with Margarita. Highly recommended. She is a treasure.

  Excellent experience - the food was amazing and the lessons were easy to follow and designed to be used back home as well. She was also very accommodating to our little daughter which meant a lot to us

  Fantastic experience! Margarita was very accommodating and responded quickly to all our questions before we arrived and planned foods that fit our dietary needs. We were interested to learn to cook with squash blossoms, and she was quick to accommodate us. Margarita is very knowledgeable and encouraging in the kitchen. She even shared pictures and recipes when we were finished. We highly recommend the experience.   Margarita was the most gracious, humble and interesting host. She lovingly welcomes you into her beautiful home and the fun begins. This is a true in-home cultural experience including a fabulous trip to her neighborhood market. Seasoned cooks and wannabes alike will truly appreciate Margarita, the food you make alongside her and the gorgeous setting. Worth every cent.

  Margarita was a terrific hostess and very accommodating. She checked in with us on menu since we had young children with us to make sure everything would be good for the whole family. The market tour was good and she helped us with navigating purchase of some things for our place as well. She was also very patient as I tried to improve my Spanish with her. Highly recommend.

  I just had the best mole I have ever tasted, and I'm sure I can and will repeat this recipe at home. Our entire menu was fantastic, fun and not too complicated to replicate back home. There was so much food that we couldn't eat it all! Margarita is lovely, a fantastic cook and teacher, very patient. She has a beautiful home in an old neighborhood with narrow, cobblestone streets. Just visiting a home in this area is a treat. It was a beautiful day, and we ate outside on her patio. The market tour was fun, and even though we are familiar with Mexican markets and food ingredients, we learned more. Margarita was also helpful about suggesting things we might see and do in the area, so that we walked from her home through that beautiful neighborhood to our next adventure.
