Since Friday is a prayer day, the Friday morning market might not be as active as usual and some stalls might be closed. The evening Friday market tour is not offered.

Meet Chamsi at the concierge desk of your hotel and head out to visit the local market. She’ll show you where she buys her fresh produce, take you to the meat market (not for the faint of heart but a true, local experience!), and show you the spices that are on offer.Once your market experience is complete you’ll head back to Chamsi’s home by car to get cooking! Learn to prepare a Moroccan meal with Chamsi in her beautiful open-space kitchen. Be ready to roll up your sleeves and help prepare an authentic Moroccan meal. You’ll cook together for about an hour before sitting down to enjoy the dishes you helped prepare. Some preparation for your meal might be done in advance. You will conclude your meal with a dessert such as milk pastilla, oranges with cinnamon or Moroccan cookies. Chamsi can prepare a wonderful vegetarian meal, meat is halal or can also buy kosher meat, so be sure to ask if you have any special dietary requests.

Book it. I was on an 11 stop/24 day cruise and this was MY FAVORITE experience. Chamsi, my host was beyond gracious. We went to an incredible market. There of course was a limit in what I could carry home! I'm still crying. But I did buy wonderful items. Then to this fancy French/Moroccan bakery! It was so good. THEN the main event! Cooking together at her beautiful home. Welcoming, relaxing & stimulating with conversation. We had a feast. Wedding chicken (so good - i have recipe) also a beautiful smoked eggplant & tomato spread. Plus plus plus other wonderful local accompaniments. Bravo & thank you so much Chamsi!!

Maria did a wonderful job hosting me and my friends! She picked us up right on time and took us to the cutest bakery for cookies to go with our welcome tea. Then we went to the market to shop before spending the rest of the day in her home, where we were treated like family. We got to cook alongside her, her sister, and her son. We laughed so hard and learned so much about the culture. Maria’s home is beautiful, and so is her family. Highly recommend!

If you only have time to do one thing in Casablanca, Cooking with Chamsi is an excellent choice. The trip to the local market to get the ingredients for our meal was unique and not a place where tours usually go. Chamsi was charming and share so much about cooking, life in Morocco, and her personal story. Cooking was interactive and the results were so delicious that it set a very high standard. We look forward to trying the recipes that she shared when we return home. Also a plus was the hotel pick up and drop off which made the whole experience stress free. We loved the time we spent with Chamsi.

Chamsi and her family (dogs included) were excellent hosts, so welcoming and fun to talk to! We weren't sure what to do with our free day in Casablanca before our tour began, and I'm so glad we chose this! The food was of course great as well.

Chamsi and her family were incredible, so welcoming and fun to talk to! We weren't sure what to do with our free day in Casablanca before our booked tour began, and I'm so glad we chose to spend it with her! The food was incredible as well, of course!

What an excellent way to see the markets and learn a bit about the culture from a local. Such a great experience, delicious food and every question answered. Chamsi taught us so much, and we learned a few new dishes that are in our rotation back home. Highly recommend.

Cooking with Chamsi was the highlight of my time in Casablanca. I felt like I was hanging out with an old friend. Chamsi and her family were so welcoming. We laughed and enjoyed a delicious meal. I highly recommend this experience. The trip to the market and cooking were amazing experiences. Chamsi thank you and your family for welcoming me into your home.

This was an amazing experience. Chamis and her family were delightful. Going to the market for the ingredients and swing all the produce was worthwhile. Learn a lot about Moroccan food. The meal was excellent and the conversation with Chamis and her husband was informative and interesting. I will recommend the to any of my friends who visit Morocco.

What a great way to start our vacation in Morocco! We selected this cooking class based on internet reviews and am glad to pass along our experience. We were met at our hotel by Chamsi who immediately engaged us with her love and enthusiasm for all things Morocco. We had a great time shopping with her at the local market and we were encouraged to smell spices, sample local dates and nuts, watch her select all of the fresh local produce, and we selected the protein. For us it was shrimp for appetizers and chicken for the main dish. Within a few hours of cooking, she made us feel more like family than guests. The meal was “over the top” delicious and the wine was perfect. She blended all of the seasonings and it seemed like all of our tastebuds were firing at once. Five stars for this young lady and a repeat visit by us if we return to Morocco!
