During this tour, you will enjoy a scenic guided 3 to 4 hours electric bike tour from the South of Marseille to the Sormiou Calanque, located in the Calanques National Park. Cycle along the narrow, steep-walled inlets between limestone mountains and the Mediterranean sea. Discover this unique natural environment from a comfortable electric bike.
This experience is accessible to participants in good condition, able to ride a bike. Thanks to the electric power of your bike, you will be able to cover more ground quickly, and without exerting as much effort as a conventional bicycle.

Your exciting half day shore excursion to Marseille Calanques begins with a morning pickup from your cruise terminal. Meet your guide and board a minivan or a taxi for a 25 minute transfer across the city to get to your starting point, near the sea . After getting familiar with the settings of the electric mountain bikes (pedelec), you will leave Pointe Rouge area through small roads that will quickly lead you to the verdant area of the Roy d’Espagne. You will cycle on a road normally closed to traffic through la Cayolle, then cross Cortiou’s Pass and reach the Calanque de Sormiou. You will arrive to the heart of the National Calanques Park, with its small beach and its turquoise blue water. From May the 1st to September the 31st, the access to motor vehicles is restricted. Electric bikes are therefore one of the best ways to get to this haven of peace on the doorsteps of the city. You will visit a small fishing port and its hamlet before heading off to the beach. There, it will be hard to resist the temptation to go swimming in the sea or to take a drink on the waterside. The same road will be used for the way back until La Cayolle. From there, you will enter again the Calanques National Park to reach the Pastré Castle using large tracks and easy paths. You will ride on the sides of the Canal de Marseille in a shaded area surrounded by the impressive cliffs of Marseilleveyre. Depending on your desire and the time left, it is possible to make a detour via the port of the Madrague de Montredon or even the Goudes . The tour will be punctuated by multiple stops in order to discover the wealth of the local heritage, fauna and flora on earth, under the sea or in the air. Your excursion ends when you return to your cruise terminal.

3.00There was a lot of fast city street riding which is scary for Americans who are not used to riding in such busy traffic and literally down the middle line with cars whizzing by in both directions. When away from the city, the scenery was lovely, but the pace was so fast on rocky graveled roads that we really could only appreciate it when the group stopped. The bikes were fine (although the one my husband rode was too small), but we would have liked more guidance on riding in town traffic and a much slower pace. At times we could not even see our guide in front of us. There are two very steep hills in the middle of the ride that were pretty tough even with pedal assist. True mountain bike riders should have no trouble though.

5.00Great experience today on an electric bike excursion! The course was really nice with beautiful scenery, accessible even without being a great sportswoman A huge thank you to our guide Arthur who was on top from start to finish: nice, reassuring, funny and very pro! He put everyone at ease and made the exit even more interesting. I recommend 100%, do it again without hesitation

5.00Fantastic trail, really needed an electric mountain bike for this trail. Some cycling experience would be very helpful. Great views of the ocean. Trail leader was very good. English was fine. We had a few problems with the bikes, but we were able to finish the trail.

5.00Selected this tour for a cruise excursion. We wanted to see the city and National Park in just a few hours. We were picked up at the port by Emmanuel, the owner of Fada Bike Tours, who communicated with us via text in advance then drove us to the bike shop to meet our tour guide Fabienne. We do not speak French but both Emmanuel and Fabienne spoke English and were kind and pleasant. We ordered a lunch from the cafe in the shop to be delivered en route. We biked through the city, up to Notre Dame de la Guarde, where we took photos and visited the cathedral. Fabienne explained some of the history and took our picture. We then proceeded along the coast, stopping at the beach for a swim and lunch, which was delivered by an employee who waited along our route. We then continued on to Calanques National Park and back through the city, seeing two more parks before arriving back at the shop for cool drinks at the cafe. We were delivered back at our ship promptly. The bikes were in excellent condition with comfortable seats. We are not regular cyclists but although we pedaled many kilometers, we thoroughly enjoyed the longer tour and were able to see many parts of Marseille in a few hours. Both Emmanuel and Fabienne were professional and knowledgeable. We thoroughly enjoyed our e-bike tour in Marseille.

Failed to tell the truth.. this IS a High Intensity/ Experienced Mountain biking

3.00Overall we enjoyed the experience however we were not prepared for the intensity as it gives no details or notice of the true experience over rough terrain, steep incline, steep decline down the hills then through traffic circles. Also they were unprepared as we waited at port for our pick up that was almost an hour late then when we were on our way the guide was nasty to us upon arrival like it was our fault the driver made us late. Even though in the listing it says "we will wait for you, tour at your pace". So then we started in a haste and he always was in a rush leaving some of the group behind and not accommodating to the range of skill and experience. Saw the Calanques which were amazing! however didnt have the opportunity to swim because again he was rushing the tour, since he had an afternoon 1 still. Steep inclines in deep rock gorge which the ebike did help to get through but difficult for the teenagers and my parents on the tour. Then came the downhill....he was in such a hurry even pushing our friend scared of heights to be quicker. Then as the lead he was racing down the hill essentially going full speed no brakes and we were meant to follow and keep up with him going 25mph+. Unfortunately at this time towards the bottom of the steep hill my husband fell over his bike and crashed. Our guide Frank was not the least bit concerned for his safety and more so wanted to inspect the bike for damage. Helmet smashed and all which luckily my husband wore his helmet properly because Frank never checked to make sure anyone's helmet was fitted and worn correctly. Luckily another man on the tour showed great concern and check all his injuries, consciousness etc. and insisted he relax drink water all while Frank was still trying to rush us saying it was the last ride back to the shop we needed to complete. He was cut up and could tell his arm was injured. Frank forced my husband to get back on the bike and still ride the at least 2 miles back, never once offered another way for him to get back or anything. Luckily it was not worse!! It could of been so much worse for my husband or if my 59yr old parents had fallen! All in all it was not explained the level of intensity or experience needed and my husband ended our trip at the doctors now with a broken elbow from it. Luckily overall we enjoyed our day and time in Marseille however I was upset I scheduled this for my family as they were upset that they felt I had led them on and downplayed the experience.

5.00We spent two weeks traveling across Europe, doing many fun activities and tours. This was our favourite experience by far. The views during the ride are awe-inspiring and riding and e-bike through the mountains was thrilling. Our tour guide was phenomenal; very knowledgable about the area, the path we were taking and the bikes. After a big bump, my bike suffered a fault that I was certain to make it impossible to continue the tour, but my guide managed to MacGyver together a fix using zipties and and a twig. A truly unforgettable experience that anyone visiting Marseille should experience!
