[Note: This tour does NOT include going inside the King Birth Home or Old Ebenezer Baptist Church. Our walk is 1.7 miles with lots of standing; please contact us if you have any physical limitations.]

The tour meets and ends at the National Historic Site, and includes an overview of the site, as well as detailed walk through various areas on the site. Due to potential staffing shortages, all National Park buildings are subject to closure at any time.

5.00Great walking tour! We joined the tour as walk-in and so glad we did. Zoe was great, she made the tour interesting and we were very entertained the whole tour. What we were thinking on doing on our own wouldn't have compared with all of the stops we made and all of what Zoe shared. Join this tour you won't regret it.

5.00Our guide, Jen, was extremely knowledgeable and personable, an excellent story teller. We learned a great deal about the history of civil rights in Atlanta. She engaged every member of our 11-person tour in a way that was enjoyable and not intrusive. Kudos!

5.00This was my second Unexpected Atlanta tour. This time, I took the Martin Luther King Jr. History Tour. Once again, the experience was both educational and engaging. Our tour guide, Nic, was incredibly knowledgeable and did an excellent job explaining many aspects of history as we walked through the neighborhood where Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. grew up. Nic is also a teacher, and his passion and insight made the tour even more meaningful. He has a great disposition, which made the experience both informative and fun.

Deeply moving and fun walking tour - can’t miss (MLK)

5.00This MLK walking tour is something I’ve been wanting to do ever since I moved to Atlanta earlier this year and it didn’t disappoint! Joy was a phenomenal guide. So knowledgeable but also conversational and easygoing and fun. I loved all the personal touches she shared about ML and Coretta and the King family. Seeing his childhood home and birthplace, his final resting place with Coretta, the famous Ebenezer Baptist Church where he and his father preached, his Nobel peace prize, his suitcase and clothing from his final day, it was all overwhelming and very moving. I also loved how Joy played excerpts from MLK’s speeches at key points along the way so we could hear his voice as we saw these meaningful sights. Loved learning about his mentors too, Coretta’s influence, and seeing and feeling how so many things came together in his family and in the nation for him to play the role that he did. A very special tour and we deeply enjoyed it. There were a lot of laughs too. So important that we remember this man and this movement and I am grateful for this tour.

5.00It was the perfect 2.5 hour walking tour to the heart of historic Black Atlanta, which was home to Martin Luther King Jr and the civil rights movement. I had half a day in ATL and so happy I chose this tour. We stopped at key locations and our guide, Jennifer, shared a lot of interesting stories and facts. Thank you, unexpected Atlanta Tours, you Rock!
