The Maryland Coastal Bays Program has been protecting the pristine beauty of the coastal Ocean City region for more that 24 years. On this trip, you’ll be joined by members of the Maryland Coastal Bays Program as you tour the Assawoman and Sinepuxent Bays. You’ll have experts on the boat who will explain what the Maryland Coastal Bays Program is doing to preserve this natural treasure. You’ll also learn about the incredible wildlife inhabiting the coastal bay region.

Assateague Island National Seashore

A highlight of this trip will witness the amazing Assateague Island! Here, you’ll see the famous wild ponies that occupy this island, and you’ll also have a hands-on opportunity to learn about the marine life inhabiting the waters around the island. Great experience to learn about the coastal bays with hands on fishing with net experience. Captain and guide were great at pointing out dolphins, osprey, landmarks and sharing how the bays are cared for.
So much wildlife to see!!

The captain (I unfortunately forgot his name) and 2 educators (Steve and Paige) were very knowledgeable. They pointed out so many varieties of birds , explained the habitats and coast lines . The children in the families on the tour seemed to enjoy it very much. The hands on part was great! They supplied binoculars which certainly helped locating the birds. We even saw the horses! I would highly recommend this trip !

My family group had a great time on this tour in July 2022 and loved it. The boat is small (seats about 16 people), with a driver and a volunteer from the Maryland Coastal Bays Environmental Program. It was a beautiful morning and a nice time out on the water, and we saw birds, dolphins, and ponies. I would suggest bringing a pair of binoculars if you have them!

What a fantastic experience! Did the Assateague Island tour with Captain Steve. Very informative and the scenery is amazing! We saw dolphins, ponies and many birds including a bald eagle. The staff here are so friendly and accommodating. A must do in OCMD!
