Pick up at 7:00 AM. You will depart and drive through the Great Rift Valley, the dramatic landscape and the plains inhabited by Maasai pastoralists. The Maasai Mara National Reserve is reached in time for lunch. In the afternoon you will have a game drive to search out lion for which the reserve is famous for.

This man has 23 plus years in the business of taking tourists on an incredible journey through the park. If you want the absolute best experience, book with James- I promise you, you will not regret it! Chris J.

5.00James Kariithi was the most excellent guide. He knew where to find the animals we wanted to see, found birds for the lone birder in the group, and made arrangements for wherever we wanted to go. Excellent guide and compassionate person all around! I highly recommend requesting James for your guide. Stayed at Sarova Mara which was most delightful with excellent food and staff and amenities. The “tents” made you feel like you were still in the wild with a clean shower and kettle available as well. All around great time in Maasai Mara!

5.00Holy smokes. Saw everything we wanted to see and more! James was very attentive to our requests. I was the lone birder of my crew and he even helped me find many new life listers. He definitely went out of his way to show us amazing sights! Lions and cheetah eating fresh kill! I would highly recommend this Safari and James as a your expert guide. I was back for round two and made sure to request him as a repeat game driver.

5.00Myself and nine other women had the pleasure of experiencing a 3 day two night safari with Explorer Kenya. From the moment we were picked up at the Nairobi airport the experience was amazing. The hospitality of our driver Moses, was phenomenal. He was so kind and went out of his way on multiple occasions to make sure we were having a great experience. We got to see so many beautiful animals and had such a great time driving around. Every single person I was with was also thrilled about the quality of our accommodation for the price. The villas were beautiful and the food was amazing. The staff was so lovely and kind. Overall it was an amazing experience and I would love to do it again. Thank you Moses!

5.00We were picked up at the airport, dropped off at our hotel, and then picked up in the early morning for a day of experiencing Nairobi. After a long and interesting day we had a good nights sleep before heading out to Masai Mara. It was a 6 hour drive, including a few stops as well as driving to a location where they had spotted lions - so even before arriving at Ashnil camp for lunch we got to see a lion guarding his hunted prey, waiting to eat it. Ashnil was clean, quiet and wonderful, highly recommended. There are some hippos in the river outside (singing/grunting their lullabies constantly)! On day two of the safari we had about 9,5 hours in the car, with lunch along the way. Our driver Ian was absolutely amazing. Knowledgeable, kind and calm. We are still in awe of his driving skills, as well as how well he knows the park, and his spotting abilities and interest in birds (coinciding with ours). We would do this again in a heartbeat. Explorer Kenya is a reliable company.

5.00We had the best time! Sammy was a fantastic tour guide - very energetic, knowledgeable, and really went above and beyond to make sure we saw everything possible… and we did! We saw elephants, giraffes, hippos, water buffalo, cheetahs, lions AND cubs, and even a leopard up a tree. In between those big animals, we saw so many others - warthogs, meerkats, baboons, gazelle, topis, antelope, vultures, and a crocodile! My partner and I were on our honeymoon, and it was an amazing trip. Highly recommend doing the tour - Ashnil Mara camp is absolutely stunning, and the staff are incredible.

5.00We had an amazing 4-day safari in the maasai mara with explorer Kenya. Our guide Moses was awesome - friendly, funny, and clearly had so much knowledge, expertise and experience. Over the four days, we saw so much amazing wildlife on our trip. It was really special. The vehicle and the accommodation were great, and we were made to feel very comfortable throughout. Thank you Robert Murigi for the smooth organisation and thank you Moses for the brilliant guiding.
