Materuni Waterfalls
Materuni is the home of the Chagga tribe and is still an authentic tribal village. This charming place is just 15km away from Moshi Town and is the last village before the Kilimanjaro National Park. First you will visit the waterfalls, which are around a 40-minute walk away. On the way, trail can be slippery & muddy best to have good hiking boots. The views are truly breathtaking, and with some luck you will see the summit of Kilimanjaro. When you reach the waterfalls, you will see that they are more than 80 meters high. The pool at the bottom of the waterfall is an inviting place for a refreshing swim so don‘t forget your swimwear! After having enjoyed the scenery, you slowly return with your guide to Materuni village, where you will experience a traditional Chagga lunch. You also will have the opportunity to taste our local banana beer – definitely not to be missed! Tip: Chagga tribesmen are Tanzania’s finest brewers
Materuni Waterfalls
But that’s not all. Next the coffee experience awaits you. Here you will learn how coffee is cultivated, dried, roasted and further processed. You will also be invited to help with the grinding of the coffee, which is traditionally accompanied by Chagga songs and dances - a fun way to immerse yourself in the local culture. Before you say goodbye, you can savor the coffee you made and appreciate the views of the surrounding rainforest.

Enock was our guide for 2 days and it was amazing! We had a great time with him! He is very reliable, the communication with him was excellent, he was always on time and his knowledge about the area is great! On our first day we went to the materuni waterfalls and after that we did a coffee and village tour. We were able to make our own coffee from "cleaning" the coffee until roasting it and grinding it! It was a great experience! On our second day we went to the Kikuletwa hot springs and we really had a great time! The hot springs are amazing with Crystal clear blue water. Very beautiful! Would totally recommend this tour and Enock as a guide!

Innocent was a wonderful tour guide who loved to share about the history and culture of Tanzania. All communication was easy and clear. Flagging the driving time from Arusha to materuni falls is about 2.5 hours then the drive from there to Chemka hot springs is another 80-90 minutes, then two hours back, so it’s a lot of being driven around. The hike was nice to get out and stretch our legs and the food at the coffee tour was incredible!

A pleasant hike from Materuni to the Kuringe Waterfall. Our guide, Noel, told us a lot about the landscape and the people. We also learned a great deal about coffee cultivation and were able to enjoy freshly roasted coffee at the end.

We had an amazing experience with our guide, Enock! He picked us up directly from our hotel in the morning and stayed with us throughout the entire day, making everything smooth and enjoyable. We first visited the beautiful Materuni Waterfalls, which was absolutely stunning. After that, we participated in a coffee experience with local people. It was very authentic, and the food they prepared to us was delicious. To finish the day, we went to the Kikuletwa Hot Springs, which was such a relaxing and unforgettable experience. Enock was friendly, professional, and very knowledgeable. I highly recommend him to anyone looking for a great and well-organized tour!

Fun day trip! The short hike was very much welcomed after an 8 day safari. The guide at the Materuni Falls was very nice and very open and fun. Coffee tour was very interesting and entertaining with the locals explaining in detail the proccess of fhe coffee. Finally, the day was topped by the Safari Soles guide for the day, Moussa Hozza. Even though it was a day trip we shared many things and learned about eachothers lives. Very dedicated guide, also giving us a flash Swahili lesson!

This tour was more than we expected and a wholesome day out. Enock, our guide, was so caring and attentive, we fell in love with his easy-going, friendly nature. The waterfall hike was a beautiful way to start the day, then stopping on the way back to have the most engaging coffee experience with the boys at Materuni Village Coffee Hut. We learnt so much about the coffee bean process and had so much fun along the way, and had the BEST lunch we've had the whole trip! The boys there made us feel like family and I hope i can see them again some day. From there we had an 'African massage' as we drove through the villages out to the most beautiful, blue, hot spring I've ever seen. Kikuletwa Hot Springs are a serene, charming and refreshing oasis; perfect way to cool off and wrap up a fantastic day. Enock was the perfect host and we already miss him!

It was an unforgettable day on our vacation. We were incredibly lucky with the weather and had a fantastic guide named Innocent who picked us up in the morning, exactly as agreed. Communication with him was seamless. He told us a lot of information about the Chaga tribe, their way of life, also about bananas, avocados, animals and other plants and animals that live in the area. He explained everything in detail. He drove us to Chemka and waited patiently for us when we were done swimming. It was an amazing trip. The waterfalls are breathtaking, the hike is beautiful and the coffee tour is very informative. Honestly, I didn't realize how many steps are involved in growing coffee and making this delicious drink. We sang with the Chaga boys and enjoyed the view of Kilimanjaro, which we only managed to do once in nine days. The Chaga food was delicious. It was a perfect trip thanks to Innocent.

Had an amazing trip! Their coffee hike to the waterfall was refreshing and knowledgeable, my guide was also amazing, funny and patient. The coffee experience was the best ever. I loved how they explained the entire process and included guests. The coffee was more than wonderful. I’d buy every bag if I could. Definitely a must do. Loved the hot springs. It was a great end to a long day.
