Witness the dawning of a new day atop Haleakala (the house of the sun) a dormant volcanic mountain overlooking Maui on the east side. Deep canyons and slopes and unspoiled terrain are home to endemic Hawaiian Nene geese and rare Silversword plants.
You'll be transported in a comfortable mini coach to 9,740 feet elevation, close to the summit to witness the ultimate sunrise; a spectacular show of lights and colors. The sunrise tour is an unforgettable experience and a definite must-do on your Hawaii vacation. On the descent, marvel at sprawling scenic views of Kula and the Pacific Ocean on your way to breakfast at local favorite, Cafe O'Lei at the Plantation in Waikapu.

Haleakala is known for rapidly changing weather conditions and dense clouds and rain are common. As a result, clear viewing of the sunrise is not guaranteed, and the tour operates rain or shine. Refunds will be granted only when the tour is cancelled for safety reasons.
The high altitude at the summit area may complicate health conditions and breathing difficulties. Elderly visitors, pregnant women, young children, and those with respiratory or heart conditions should consult their doctor prior to touring. Walk slowly and drink water to avoid dehydration. If you have gone scuba diving, you should wait at least 72 hours before going on this tour.

5.00Preston was quirky and entertaining. He made the trip. He was full of information and one liners. He didn't rush anything took his time telling us stories. The weather was super cold. I recommend gloves, hat, scarf, and hot hands. It was nice to get hot coffee to warm my hands after watching the sun come up! The breakfast was ok(for the #2). And amazing for the macadamia pancakes(#3).Met a lot of cool people. Highly recommend!

He explained everything so well during the Maui Haleakalā sunrise experience 🌅, making the whole trip even more special. On the way back, he shared so much interesting information about the roadway and surroundings, which I really appreciated. My favorite part was the breakfast it was unique, beautiful, and a perfect way to end such an unforgettable experience. Highly recommend! 🌺

5.00We recently took the Polynesian Adventures sunrise tour to Haleakalā, and it instantly became one of the absolute highlights of our entire Maui trip — honestly, one of the best guided experiences we’ve ever had anywhere. The sunrise itself was spectacular. Bundled in warm blankets with hot coffee and cocoa , we watched the sky light up in vivid colors over the massive crater. It was pure magic and worth every bit of the early wake-up. But what truly elevated this tour from great to unforgettable was our guide, Preston. Preston is outstanding. He’s incredibly knowledgeable, weaving in fascinating details about the volcano’s geology, Hawaiian history, and the deep cultural importance of Haleakalā that made everything come alive. His storytelling kept us engaged the whole time, even when we were still waking up at 3 AM. On top of that, he’s genuinely funny — his witty jokes and lighthearted banter had the whole group laughing and in great spirits throughout the morning. What really stood out was how much Preston went the extra mile for every single person on the tour. He was constantly checking in to make sure everyone was warm and comfortable, handing out snacks, and even wiping condensation and frost off the van windows on the way down so we all had clear, perfect views of the scenery. He also shared practical photo tips and pointers about where to stand for the best shots, which made the whole experience smoother and more enjoyable. Preston didn’t just lead the tour — he turned it into a personal, memorable adventure and made every guest feel truly cared for.
