Mdina, Malta's former capital is situated on a hilltop in the central part of the island and dominates over two - thirds of Malta. It is one of Europe's finest examples of an ancient fortified city, characterized by medieval and baroque architecture. Known by the locals as the " Silent City", it encloses within its walls palaces belonging to Maltese aristocratic families, the majority of which are secondary homes.

Walking through Mdina you will feel as though the city has been frozen in time; its narrow winding streets, majestic palaces, churches and courtyards make this city unique, a must-see during your stay in Malta!

Rabat, a suburb of Mdina, is also a historical town with strong religious ties. According to tradition during his 3 months stay in Malta, St Paul the Apostle lived in a grotto beneath the parish church.Your guide will lead you along some of the most typical street in Rabat highlighting the most important architectural features as you go along.

Mdina Old City

Meet your guide at the Main Gate of Mdina. Your guide will be holding a City Walking Tours Malta. During this walk we guide you through this enchanting town, past the most important palaces, convents, churches and typical streets. This 2 hour walk is the most comprehensive Mdina / Rabat walk and has been planned so as not to miss out on anything worth seeing in the area. Rabat is just a stone throw away so we will also cover the old quarter where you can enjoy Maltese vernacular architecture. Our walk will end up at St. Paul's square in Rabat center. This walk is wheelchair friendly.

If you visit Malta, Medina would be a stop not to be forgotten. Beautiful cathedral and its museum at a cost of 15 euros, well spent. It can be reached by public transport by getting off in Rabat at a cost of 2 euros. The Medina Citadel is perfect for a tour of history.

Nadine was an excellent and enthusiastic guide. She obviously is very knowledgeable and passionate about Maltese history and has interesting insider knowledge. I would absolutely recommend this tour to anyone visiting Malta.

Fantastic walking tour with Angele, she has vast knowledge of the area, so much so she answered all my questions before I even asked them. She brought the past to life and also added humanity and humour in the tour in just the right places. Would definitely recommend this tour

Whichever city we visit we always book a walking tour as it’s a great way to both discover areas you may not find by yourself and gain an insight to the culture and history The Mdina and Rabat tour was no exception and our guide Angele was very knowledgeable and we learned so many interesting facts. She spoke excellent English and her presentation was interspersed with humour. The narrow lanes of Mdina were exceptionally busy but the fact that we were provided with headsets meant that we could easily hear Angele even if we were several metres from her. A five star tour and we would certainly recommend it to anyone visiting Mdina

Angela was professional and friendly. The dialogue was very informative and clear - we did both the Valletta walking tour and Mdina/Rabat walking tour. Good pace and loads of detail from historical facts to modern day. Very knowledgeable guide. Thanks for making our visit to Malta sp much better.

The walking tour was very informative and a perfect balance of local knowledge, history and walking. Our guide Angele was very knowledgeable and insightful, she made the 2 1/2 hours pass quickly.

The two hour walking tour was the right amount of time. The group was about twenty five people but thanks to the Whispers it wasn’t a problem hearing our guide, Angele. She was very knowledgeable and open to any questions from the group.

The guide did a great job with a big group and very busy streets. It was great to have headphones so we could hear her even if not close. She provided lots of information that we wouldn’t have heard about otherwise. Lower stars are not for the tour pre say just wasn’t our favourite place/ tour of our trip.
