Ile de la Cite
Often called the cradle of Paris, the Île de la Cité was adopted as home by the Parisii tribe over 2,000 years ago and is thought of as the historical centre of Paris. Your tour begins on the island in front of Notre Dame Cathedral, where you’ll be deciphering the intricate details of the stone façade of this gothic masterpiece and learning the difference between a gargoyle and a grotesque. Despite the recent 2019 fire that partially destroyed its roof and spire, your guide will present Our Lady of Paris from the outside and its rich sculpted facade.

5.00Our tour of the Concierge, Sainte Chapelle and Notre Dame was everything we had hoped for. From the in depth discussion of the Concierge’s utilization as a palace and a prison to the discussion of the executions of the king and queen, you could tell our guide was really into the history of it all. Sainte-Chapelle was an absolute gem with both the lower chapel and upper chapel separation of the earthly and Devine. Finally, Notre Dame was everything we had hoped it would be. From the history to the reconstruction it couldn’t have been better.
