Toorji Ka Jhalra (Toorji’s Step Well)

Toorji’s Step Well – was built in the 1740s by Maharaja Abhaya Singh’s Queen. Submerged for nearly a century, its recent drainage, clean-up and restoration has uncovered over two hundred feet of hand carved treasure in Jodhpur’s famous Rose-Red Sand-Stone; intricate carvings of dancing elephants, medieval lion and cow water-spouts, and niches housing deities long gone.     The visit was correct. The Fort part was interesting but there was very little information when visiting the Blue Quarter, I could have done it by myself. Otherwise the guide was very kind.

    I highly recommend this tour! Negandra was an excellent and informative guide and there’s no way I would have found my way around the blue city streets without him. I loved our lunch in a local cafe and felt safe at all times. Jodhpur is an incredible place - made even more so by Negandra’s local insight and stories.

    Excellent tour of the blue city. Nagendra was very knowledgeable, friendly and easy going. We had a great time despite the heat. In addition to seeing the blue part of the city, we also visited the big fort - a good use of time when paired with Nagendra’s narrative.
