Step into a world of timeless tradition, history, and natural beauty on this journey to Melnik and the Rozhen Monastery.
We begin our tour with a scenic drive through the Pirin foothills, arriving in the charming town of Melnik — officially Bulgaria’s smallest town but one of its richest in culture. Nestled among the striking Melnik sandstone pyramids, the town is famous for its preserved 18th-century architecture and red wines.
Enjoy a leisurely walking tour, visiting landmarks like the Kordopoulova House — the largest Revival-period house in the Balkans, with an ancient wine cellar carved into the rock.
After a wine tasting of local Melnik Shiroka Melnishka varieties, we set off on a short and scenic hike (about 45 minutes) through the sand cliffs to the stunning Rozhen Monastery, perched above the valley with views that stretch to Greece, You’ll explore the peaceful grounds and centuries-old frescoes.

My trip with Buddy Travel’s Bulgarian Adventures Agency was absolutely unforgettable! From the very beginning, communication was smooth and professional, and every detail was carefully organized. The itinerary struck the perfect balance between cultural exploration, natural beauty, and authentic local experiences. Our guide was not only knowledgeable about Bulgaria’s history and traditions but also warm, approachable, and genuinely passionate about sharing the country’s heritage. Whether we were visiting famous landmarks like the Rozhen Monastery and Melnik’s Old Town, exploring hidden gems in the mountains, or enjoying delicious Bulgarian cuisine, everything felt seamless and thoughtfully planned. What impressed me most was the personal touch—Buddy Travel made us feel less like tourists and more like welcomed guests discovering Bulgaria with friends. I left with not only wonderful memories but also a much deeper appreciation for the country’s culture, history, and people. I highly recommend Buddy Travel to anyone looking for a professional, authentic, and truly memorable travel experience in Bulgaria. I can’t wait to return and explore more with them!
