I was a little nervous about spending 13 hours on a tour group but I am so glad I did. We met Paola and the rest of our group at Centrale at 8AM (definitely listen to their advice of NOT using Google Maps because it takes you to a different place) and were off to begin our adventure to Lake Como and the Bernina railway. The tour was a mix of Trenord and private van. We had a wonderful driver named Ivan who was incredible--as someone who normally gets car sick, I didn't feel a thing because he drove so smoothly. Anyone can take a train to Lake Como and Tirano, but having a private van afforded us necessary bathroom breaks and short stops off the beaten path (including this amazing latteria with the best gelato and bitto cheese). The Bernina train ride itself was incredible and Paola was super helpful in finding good seats for us and letting us know which side of the train to go on for the best highlights. The panoramic train is definitely what the influencers will tout but Paola keyed us in on the benefits of the older trains: windows that open so you can breathe in the fresh alpine air (and get photos/videos without window glare!) We lucked out with the weather but I can definitely see how the weather can make or break this experience. We spent enough time in St. Moritz to buy some Swiss chocolate and view the nearby lake (frozen this time of year) before our journey back to Milan. We were lucky that the roads were clear but because they are smaller roads, just one accident can set you back an hour or so. I wanted to give a special shout out to our tour guide, Paola, who was extremely knowledgeable about everything. She was very good at keeping us all on track and on time, even being firm when she needed to be for the sake of getting us where we needed to be promptly and safely. We asked SO many questions about Italian culture, and she was very enthusiastic answering them, even by the end of our 13 hours. Definitely recommend this tour--just make sure to check the weather before hand AND bring a portable charger because you will be taking a LOT of photos and videos!

This was the absolute highlight of our time in Milan! Our small group of just nine made for an intimate and enjoyable experience. The day began at 8 AM and didn’t wrap up until 9 PM, and while I initially worried it might feel long—especially with three teenagers in tow—it flew by. Luca kept the pace engaging, with frequent stops to eat and explore the stunning landscapes of Lake Como, a winery, and Torino. One of the biggest highlights was the train ride. We had requested panoramic windows but couldn’t get them—and in hindsight, I’m so glad! The open windows made the experience even more thrilling. Watching the Alps roll by with the fresh air rushing in was unforgettable. The engineering of that railway is mind-blowing! Without a doubt, this was the best money we spent in Milan. A day we’ll never forget!

I was glad to book this tour. There were only 4 of us and the tour still went ahead. Everything was organised well, Luca was great with his guiding and driving. He was quiet but he made sure we were looked after. Don't hesitate to book with LucafromItaly.

This was the second time we had travelled on the Bernina Train. But the first time in a small group and this was so much better. We took the train from Milan Central and got off at Varenna at Lake Como, had a walk through the town and took photos before boarding our minibus up to Tirano where we had time for lunch and then our own carriage on the Bernina train. The views are spectacular and in St Moritz you get another short visit before taking the minibus back to the train home. Very well organised. Great guide. Excellent value

Julia was a wonderful guide! Was totally perfect even in February weather which was slightly cold and windy. Got to see a lot and everything was well planned, including a nice visit to St Moritz. Definitely recommend! Great way to spend a full day!
