You are guaranteed a window seat with unimpaired views as you fly this incredible route to and from Milford Sound through a landscape of unbelievable grandeur and beauty. Encounter real mountain flying and marvel at the most remarkable snow-capped mountains and glaciers onboard our fixed-wing aircraft. Your knowledgeable, highly skilled local pilot providing interesting and informative commentary. Flying across the Southern Alps, out to the West Coast and the Tasman Sea before flying through the Fiord itself to land in Milford Sound.

Once in Milford, your pilot will accompany you to the boat terminal. Discover the natural wonders of Milford Sound aboard your cruise vessel with open-air viewing decks, a perfect location for some wildlife spotting. The Fiord is home to fur seal colonies, penguins, and dolphins, who love playing in the wake of the boat. You will cruise the length of the Fiord out to the Tasman Sea with a pass under Sterling Falls on the return.

Milford Sound

Once in Milford Sound, your pilot will accompany you from the airport to the boat terminal. Everything is organised for you, you don't have to worry about a thing! Step on board your cruise lasting at least 1hr 45mins, you will travel the length of the Fiord and out to the Tasman Sea. Stopping at waterfalls and points of interest along the way, if you're lucky you'll also get to experience the local wildlife - the dolphins love playing in the wake of the boat!

Loved it! The plane ride was fantastic and the cruise around Milford Sound was spectacular! Our highlight was the pod of dolphins escorting our boat back to Milford Sound. As my husband and I said, we have never seen such spectacular views from air and water.

Jared was our pilot today. He made the flight / experience even more enjoyable with his wit and reasuring humour. It was worth waiting the extra day to get the weather to fly into Milford sound

This is "must do" experience! The plane ride was very comfortable, the views magnificent, and the pilot, Annabelle, was a great hostess giving commentary on what we were seeing. The boat ride in Milford Sound was just spectacular. I loved being on the top deck so I could clearly see everything. The wind was chilly, so it was nice to be able to go down and get a warm drink for a few minutes before going back out. Again the commentary on what we were seeing was very interesting and the captain tried to get as close as possible for us to see the beautiful sights. Our pilot went a different route on the way back so we could see other sights. Highly recommend!

This trip was the highlight of my visit to New Zealand. I was picked up from central Queenstown and everything from that point was well organised and hassle-free. The flights over the lakes and mountains were superb, unbeatable views and a thrilling experience from beginning to end. The boat trip on Milford Sound was equally awesome.

Rob flew us home from Milford today and it was amazing. He was super knowledgeable and made us comfortable with the small plane. He pointed out several points of interest. He is native to NZ and that was even better. Just a great experience.

This is a must-do when in New Zealand, best way to visit Milford in my opinion. Staff were so good, views were incredible from the plane and the cruise was amazing. We had initially booked for our first full day in Queenstown and due to weather conditions in MS we were cancelled on the morning and rescheduled for the next day. Blessing in disguise as the next day was cloudless, sunny, and the heavy rain the day before had waterfalls flowing everywhere in Milford. I would have paid this much for the views and experience in the plane, the cruise on top was amazing.

We booked a tour with Glenorchy Air as soon as we arrived in Queenstown, and it turned out to be the highlight of our trip. The staff at the airport were incredibly friendly and encouraged us to take the excursion — we’re so glad they did! The flight to Milford Sound was absolutely breathtaking. Our pilot, Meaghan, and co-pilot, Isabelle, were wonderful — warm, knowledgeable, and took the time to explain all the amazing sights below us. I would highly recommend this experience to anyone visiting Queenstown. Flying to Milford Sound with Glenorchy Air is truly unforgettable.
