Enter the world of Mitai Māori Village and embrace our history and culture. Watch our stories unfold through the dynamic scenes of our warriors paddling down Wai-o-Whiro stream, the melodious sounds of our instruments and entertainment from our performers including the haka. Satisfy your hunger with the traditional Māori Hangi and concluding your evening with a walk through our forest to see the ancient, fortified village learning the old ways of living and survival of our people and discover the natural resource Te Puna a Tuhoe, freshwater spring. The evening is not over until you glimpse the glow worms light up the banks of forest as the veil of darkness sets in.

Wheelchair accessibility is limited for the 'bush walk' - exit into the forest is via stairs. Viewing of the waka (canoe) is from a platform and you can go a short distance into the forest to view the old pā (village) and see the sacred spring below the forest. Unfortunately, you will not see the glow worms. (Note: there is some uneven surfaces).
Please note there is a small walk through the forest which has some steps and uneven ground in some areas

5.00I thoroughly enjoyed the cultural performance that was showcased this evening. This was really the main thing I was looking forwards to. As a vegan, you will find that the only options in the buffet are sweet potatoes, regular potatoes, and a salad made up of green leaf lettuce, cucumbers and tomatoes with what seemed like an Italian dressing already mixed in. The premises were really nice, and we did get to see some glowworms at the end. Overall the experience was 2 hours and 30 minutes, but that can probably go up to 3 hours depending on if it is looking like people are still eating, or if there are a lot of questions being asked during the questions and answers portion. If you are staying in the center of town, you can get an uber to the location that is about an 8 minute drive and then get an uber back to town. Definitely check this out if you are wanting to learn more about the Māori culture.

5.00A very interesting evening enjoying a cultural demonstration like no other. Greeting and welcome to the space, traditional chief to chief welcome, fantastic singing and demonstrations. A touch of humour added to the experience. The dinner was exceptional. Thank you Mitai for welcoming us to your family.
