Enter the world of Mitai Māori Village and embrace our history and culture. Watch our stories unfold through the dynamic scenes of our warriors paddling down Wai-o-Whiro stream, the melodious sounds of our instruments and entertainment from our performers including the haka. Satisfy your hunger with the traditional Māori Hangi and concluding your evening with a walk through our forest to see the ancient, fortified village learning the old ways of living and survival of our people and discover the natural resource Te Puna a Tuhoe, freshwater spring. The evening is not over until you glimpse the glow worms light up the banks of forest as the veil of darkness sets in.

This tour goes rain or shine and the night we were there, it rained heavily. We had to walk up and down a poorly lit path with limited handrails while holding umbrellas. Twice. The Maori history show was very interesting and well done. The traditional canoe paddling was entertaining but not so much fun in the pouring rain. The buffet was plentiful and better than most. The emcee was very friendly and explained a lot of the Maori history. Had a good sense of humor. Drive yourself to their location. Our pick up envelope was 30 mins which is 25 minutes too long when it's raining that hard.

Good food but some items ran out before we could sample. Very scary and unsafe walking in the dark on uneven surfaces with tree branches in the way to go to the arrival of the war canoe. Entertainment was great, very enjoyable. After dinner Q & A was too long.

This experience is great! The MC is knowledgeable and relaxed. The pace of things is just right, the performance is not only beautiful to watch, one learns. As for the Hangi, it's quite an eperience in itself. If you are an omnivore, you will enjoy it! The whole experience transports you into traditional Maoridom like never before

this is an educational experience. We enjoyed the presentations, the opportunity to sit with other guests at the dinner, and the included transportation from/to our hotel.

Experience and learning was great. Learning about a different culture from prayers to life to food, fighting and music. The host however was a bit crass and seemingly rude at times. Unsure if it was just her personality or the stance she took as Māori leader. She didn’t have a host like demeanor and felt like she was bothered to be there hosting.
