Enter the world of Mitai Māori Village and embrace our history and culture. Watch our stories unfold through the dynamic scenes of our warriors paddling down Wai-o-Whiro stream, the melodious sounds of our instruments and entertainment from our performers including the haka. Satisfy your hunger with the traditional Māori Hangi and concluding your evening with a walk through our forest to see the ancient, fortified village learning the old ways of living and survival of our people and discover the natural resource Te Puna a Tuhoe, freshwater spring. The evening is not over until you glimpse the glow worms light up the banks of forest as the veil of darkness sets in.

Wheelchair accessibility is limited for the 'bush walk' - exit into the forest is via stairs. Viewing of the waka (canoe) is from a platform and you can go a short distance into the forest to view the old pā (village) and see the sacred spring below the forest. Unfortunately, you will not see the glow worms. (Note: there is some uneven surfaces).
Please note there is a small walk through the forest which has some steps and uneven ground in some areas
Infant seats are subject to availability
Operates in all weather conditions, please dress appropriately - warm comfortable clothing and walking footwear

5.00A wonderful and thought provoking experience. The MC took us through how the mighty Mãori culture arrived and evolved over the centuries to modern day. Loved the warriors and women, the canoe, dances, warrior threats and weapons. Having travelled across NZ it is vital to immerse oneself in this event, as Maori culture seemed less prevalent throughout the rest of our travels as visitors. Delicious food and a fantastic evening thanks

5.00This was incredible. I went here a few weeks ago and was simply incredible. This is a must visit for everyone. I had the honour of being the visiting chief so I was fortunate to be invited on stage and receive the peace treaty, this was a moment I will never forget and have taken the Silver Fern back to the UK where I am going to frame it as a permanent reminder. This trip consists of learning about the Maori culture, its language and its food. It is very important that you learn about other cultures especially when you are in their country/region. The Hangi (food) was so nice and I recommend it a lot. Our guide was great, providing us information about the history of the Maori and where they came from. It was fascinating and very educational. The guides are very passionate about who they are and where they come from, and this is fantastic to see. You also learn about the language, the Haka, the games they played, the songs they sing, the weapons they use (I don't want to give it all away but it was great). I did a 4 month tour of New Zealand which consisted of lots of great activities and visited some wonderful places, but this was probably my favourite.

5.00It was an interesting introduction in to the Māori way of life and their traditions. the food was delicious, plentiful and the choice was first class. the traditional dancing and warrior chants were a magical experience. A thoroughly enjoyable evening overall, well worth a visit and good value.

5.00This was a great experience, well worth seeing. It was educational and enjoyable. I really enjoyed learning the Maori culture, the singing and Huka. The food(hungi) was fabulous.

5.00Well organised and informative all round experience. Set in the Mitsubishi village and run by Moari family, this has a beautiful bush and river setting with the food and entertainment in large tents on site. After the entertainment, after dark, there is a further opportunity to walk back through the bush and see glow worms in a natural setting
