This is not a standard food tour.
You won’t try any traditional dishes but will learn about the modern cultural and culinary scene of Hoi An through interesting flavor combinations. You will hear fascinating stories from our knowledgeable host about modern Hoi An and its venues and meet the people behind them. You will learn about sustainable and eco-friendly practices applied in Hoi An and discover how they support the local community.
This experience has been developed over years of exploring Hoi An’s changing culinary scene to discover the perfect spaces just for you. Not a traditional tour, our hand-curated experience connects you to the most unique spaces and influential locals.
Please note that we need a minimum number of 2 guests in a group to be able to run this experience. In case you book this experience for 1 person and we don't have enough guests on the date we will contact you and suggest alternative dates.

Join us for a culinary and cultural exploration of Hoi An by electric car. Explore the food culture, meet chefs and small business owners, and learn about the sustainable practices of Hoi An with our Modern Culinary Experience. Enjoy the rich flavor and charming atmosphere of the city and its surroundings with our carefully selected dishes, snacks, and drinks - each with an interesting story behind it. From new Vietnamese and fusion dishes and drinks to homemade products, you will discover some exceptional creations made with fresh, local ingredients. You will be transported between the locations by electric cars and will be able to visit not only the town of Hoi An but also its surroundings. You will ride past tranquil rice fields and enjoy the beautiful scenery between each stop.

Among our selected places are a small modern Vietnamese restaurant inspired by the organic herbs of Tra Que Village, a tasteful riverside cafe that supports people with disadvantages, the house of a fermentation master, and a private gallery full of unique art collected from local minorities from all over Vietnam.

5.00It was great to get a different take on local food as most of our tour restaurants served the same type of meals. Every host was so passionate about what they did it was lovely to experience that genuine love for what they were doing.

5.00Booking this tour was such a good decision. Our guide Tinh was so knowledgeable, warm and friendly. He took us around Hoi An to amazing spots I'd never found by myself. The food was amazing, but the highlight was hearing the stories behind it, the love and care that goes into these businesses and how the city has changed while honouring its traditions. I'd recommend this and all other Secret Experiences tours to anyone visiting Vietnam. As a solo traveller, it made my experience of the city much easier and enjoyable.

5.00My mom and I had an absolutely fantastic time on this tour, facilitated by the charismatic and knowledgeable Chi. We learned so much about the 'hidden' food scenes of Hoi An, meeting interesting locals who are stepping outside the bounds of the mass tourism market to create unique, sustainable and innovative new culinary traditions. The stories behind the food were fascinating and inspiring, and we came away with full bellies, engaged minds and open hearts. Highly recommended for those who want to leave the tourist hordes behind and experience something unique and worthwhile!

The tour took us through hidden spots and experiences / meals that are specially curated just for us, to give a fresh look at the thriving culinary scene in Hoi An. Expect a mix between traditional and fusion, an adventure on an e - tuk tuk shuttle, lots of laughs, wonderful stories from the people , the chefs, the creatives of Hoi An and a tour that is unlike any other tours on the market!

5.00Fantastic. What an amazing tour. I wasn't keen on a food tour, but from the first introduction with Tim, I thought we were in for an experience, and that is what he delivered. There were five of us in the group, and he engaged with us all as he took us through four different venues, including some private residences, in both the city and the country. His knowledge of Vietnamese culture and history was amazing and his fabulous communication skills made it sound like a chat rather than a lesson. The stories behind the food were also amazing. Higly recommended. I would have given 6 stars if it was an option.

5.00If you have done a food tour already or are not interested in the usual format, this might just be the tour for you - you will learn about culture and modern Vietnamese foodies in Hoi An. While eating is always part of the itinerary this tour is so much more and really offers a glimpse in the Hoi An food scene that travelers wouldn't otherwise get - far beyond the usual dishes! The best part (besides the yummy food obiviously) is that you get a real glimpse into life in Vietnam, you are literally invited into people's home! A great trip for all foodies who want to dive deeper into Vietnamese food culture and visit places you would never find on your own.
