Guide was very informative and accommodating to us due to our age which influenced our ability to climb and go back down the steep areas. Was disappointing that the bus to return us was 30 minutes late

Monte Alpan is great, Miguel our guide was the best! He gave us excellent information of the site, its fauna, and other areas/peoples of Mexico. Really enjoyed it. Thank you Miguel!

If I could give more thsn 5 stars I would! Our English speaking guide Miguel was extremely knowledgeable, amiable, and had a good sense of humor. He took us on a journey of history, context, and detail but it was not boring. If there is one tour you should do in Oaxaca, it should be this one. There is a 100 peso admission fee, and if you have trouble climbing stairs this could be tricky as you do climb some steps. Transport was via safe and comfortble busses and only about 30 minutes. Overall, excellent experience!

Definitely worth going. So much information, extremely interesting and our guide ( I believe his name was Miguel) was fantastic. So knowledgeable and friendly.

The site is impressive, but I think it's the first time for me when the context provided by the guide was even more interesting. Miguel is an awesome guide, he was happy to stay longer and answer all our questions in perfect English, thanks! Note that the kiosk and the restaurant at the top only accept cash. They provide (free) bus service every hour to return to Oaxaca so you can stay there longer if you wish.

This was an efficient way to get to and from the site with buses leaving every hour on the hour allowing you to adjust your time at the site according to your preference. Unfortunately our guide was very boring. The site is absolutely mind-blowing - it’s huge with stunning vistas and fantastic areas of both restoration as well as original structures. Our guide literally took an hour and a half to get up to the main entrance as he spoke over and over and over again about how everything would have been plastered and concreted at the time of the site being in use and repeatedly explained the use of several plants. It felt like a botanicals tour. The guide was absolutely passionate about the place and sharing the information he knew - which seemed extensive - but the choice of information and the delivery made the tour too niche and several people in the large group petered off as time went on. He was a nice man and it feels bad to write this review but the reality is that the tour was not enjoyable for a large number of people (not just people in our group of 4). We went our own way once we were finally guided to the entrance of the main site. I’d definitely recommend visiting but be cautious of the company you choose and read into the type of tours they are offering.

Trip was great, monte alban was amazing and our guide Miguel was wonderful. He was so well informed on this and other cultural sites and he answered everyone's questions. While we had a tough time finding our group in the AM, the rest of the logistics for this trip were well planned! 4 hours is the perfect amount of time needed to visit this site. This is a must see experience!

Rosario was a very good guide, friendly and knowledgeable of the place. Highly recommended to take the tour with this agency. Not to be missed in Oaxaca.

The Monte Alban half day guided tour was balanced perfectly. It was easy to find the original meeting spot (they had a banner in between the stalls for easy sighting in the Zocalo). The trip to Monte Alban was quick too and honestly it was a great way to sight-see (sit on the right for the best photos). Our guide let us know exactly what was going to happen going in (how much time we would have and where to meet back at) and he handled the purchasing of a group ticket for us after collecting the gate fee from each person (MX$100 at the time of writing this). He was also very knowledgeable and obviously passionate about the history surrounding Monte Alban (and Mexico in general), so that energy made the tour even more engaging. As for the weather, it was a combination of the time of year and the time of day, but the sun was bearable (our guide said it is usually much worse). Regardless, be sure to bring sunscreen (or cover up) if you're prone to burning. There is the occasional shaded area in the far corners and edges of the site. There weren't too many tourists when we arrived (between 8:45am-9am), so we were able to move through quick enough to allow questions from the audience when our guide stopped to give a brief history lesson. There are some steep steps you will need to take to get to all the best spots for photos. Luckily, you won't need to go far to get the initial photo-op that is in most thumbnails of this trip. However, there are some great photos to take around the edges of the valley surrounding Monte Alban.
