Observe local wildlife, including sloths, coati, tarantulas, frogs, insects, sleepy birds, porcupines and grey foxes. Get picked up at your hotel or accommodation and get ready to experience one of the best ways to see Monteverde’s wildlife, and see the animals at night, when many unique species of Costa Rica are most active. The excursion begins at sunset, when the animals are most active, as daytime species are looking for places to sleep and nighttime animals are starting their day. Take advantage of the opportunity to see many more species than would be possible with a day trip, and enjoy a unique perspective of the forest, where guides will help you see the largest number of species on the tour. You will find various species in their natural habitats, such as coati, hammers, porcupines, gray foxes, tarantulas, frogs, some insect species.

Erick and Bernie were fabulous guides . Erick kindly offered to pick us up from our accommodation and with just 4 of us on the tour we got a very detailed explanation and experience of the nighttime forest . We experienced and saw scorpions , frogs , sleeping birds , tarantulas , snakes , leaf cutter ants and many types of crickets . We got to smell many leaves and vegetation . Everything was explained in detail . Afterwards Erick sent us beautiful images taken through his telescope . Highly recommended .

This night jungle tour was truly one of the highlights of our time in Monteverde. We joined the tour as a couple and were amazed to have two guides dedicated to us, who were incredibly passionate, energetic, and knowledgeable. From the very first moment, you could feel how much they love the jungle and the wildlife. They took their time to explain everything in an engaging and easy-to-understand way, and their enthusiasm made the experience even more special. Thanks to their sharp eyes and expertise, we saw an incredible variety of wildlife: a snake, three scorpions, several birds, caterpillars, spiders, countless insects, and many fascinating plant species. The absolute highlight of the tour was spotting a toucan — something we didn‘t expect to see during a night walk and an unforgettable moment for us. This tour felt personal, authentic, and far beyond a standard wildlife walk. If you are looking for a night tour where guides truly care, share their passion, and make the jungle come alive after dark, this is an experience you should not miss. Highly recommended!

The tour guides were extremely knowledgeable and kind. The trail was pretty easy and full of different kinds of frogs, snakes, insects. Would recommend for people of all ages.

We made the tour with our two kids (8 and 11) and it was very interesting to discover all the insects by night. A very good experience that perfectly fits for families!

We had a fantastic experience on our night tour with Eric and Bernie! They were both extremely knowledgeable and passionate about the forest and its wildlife. We learned so much about the animals and the trees — they even had us smell different types of leaves and herbs, which made the experience really engaging. During the walk, we saw an incredible variety of creatures: a snake, tarantulas, owl, lizard, scorpions (under black light — very cool!), leaf crickets, twig bugs, and red-eyed tree frogs. The guides were amazing at spotting them and took excellent photos that they later shared with us. Eric even picked us up directly from our Airbnb a few kilometers away, which made everything super convenient. Overall, this tour was a highlight of our time in Monteverde — highly recommended for anyone who loves nature and wants to see the forest come alive at night!

An in depth and personalized tour that should not be missed! Our guides were incredibly knowledgeable about the natural environment of Monteverde- we learned so much. We saw more bugs and animals than we ever would have on our own. If you're looking for patient, bilingual guides that are reasonably priced for the area, this is your tour!

Bernie and Erick were terrific! They have an uncanny ability to spot even the smallest critters. My teenage daughter was very nervous at first but they made her comfortable and secure. Great experience seeing the forest awaken at night!

We loved this night tour so much. Erick was also our Airbnb host so he arranged for us to do this walk right from the house. We saw many critters - snakes, scorpions, tarantulas, leaf crickets and more. Erick and Bernie had a brilliant night light for showing up the creatures and they took fantastic photos which they sent to us after the tour. The trail through the forest in the dark was amazing - Erick gave us very good torches to use so the path wasn’t difficult to walk along. So many fantastic sounds from the rain forest at night. It was honestly one of the highlights of our trip (my youngest daughter said it was one of the best things she’s done!) and we would definitely recommend to others.

One of the highlights of our trip to Costa Rica! Our host recommended this tour so we were very lucky. We were picked up and brought back afterwards which was an excellent service. Our 2 guides Erick and Bernie were incredible! They know the forest very well and have a very great knowledge of the plants and animals. They are great spotters! It was very exciting and we saw a lot of animals: grasshoppers, scorpion, sleeping birds, gecko, frogs, walking sticks, spiders (yes even a tarantula, the highlight for our son!). We are so happy with the many pictures and video's that we received afterwards :). We highly recommend this to anybody!
