Would you like to enjoy a morning hike in the Arctic wilderness with one of the best outfitters in Abisko? Let one of Lights Over Lapland’s professional guides take you for a short, 4-5 km guided hike in Abisko National Park!

During this spectacular adventure, your guide will lead you down one of the beautiful local trails. A good example is the trail which meanders along the scenic Abisko river canyon. You will wander through an ancient mountain birch forest, enjoy stunning open views of the Abisko river delta, marvel at soaring mountain peaks, take in all the beautiful scenery around the incredible Lake Torneträsk and much more. All of our guides are highly trained and will share their deep pool of knowledge about tracks left behind by our local wildlife, local indigenous people of the region and what it is like to live in the Arctic.

This hike will be led at a very relaxed pace and usually takes between 1.5 and 2 hours to complete. Most of the trip happens on well-trodden, level ground but there can be inclines and loose/drifted snow during the hike, the guide will help anyone navigate any little obstacles and walking poles can be provided if requested. Please let us know if you have any physical limitations that would make it difficult for you to keep up with a group of eight guests and one guide. While it is not guaranteed, you may have a chance to see beautiful animals during this trip such as reindeer, mountain hare, foxes, a full range of birds and the ever-majestic Scandinavian moose if luck is on your side! Be sure to bring a camera as this trip gives you an up close and personal experience in all of the most beautiful locations in Abisko National Park!

Wonderful experience! Marco led us on a beautiful hike, teaching us about the rich history of the area and all about the nature we were hiking through. He made the experience interesting and fun and a huge bonus is he knows all the best spots for photographs! Highly recommend!

Our morning hike in Abisko National Park during the polar night was incredible. Felix, our guide, was incredibly knowledgeable and did an excellent job guiding us on a hike that highlighted the incredible beauty of the park. I can now successfully identify tracks in the snow from several native animals! Highlights included watching the light change over the mountains and hiking on a frozen lake. I highly recommend not missing this activity!

We came to Abisko last night when it was dark and it was so fun to explore the area with a guide today! This was a very relaxed hike, you get time to ask questions and stop and take pictures. Cecilia was very nice and told me a lot of fun! She also answered our questions about the area and how to make your own hikes. We got many good pictures from the hike and also got to see a moose!

Hike was about two hours with Matt from Lights over Lapland. He was very knowledgeable about the area and showed us some beautiful sights. He also provided us with shoe grips because it was unseasonably warm on that day and there was ice everywhere.

It was a great excursion to see some great sights and very intresting facts. The pace was perfect since both me and my partner are beginners and the guide, Miquel, was wonderful. He was very knowledgable, funny and all around a super nice guy. We had two who were spanish speaking in our group who Miquel gladly guided for in spanish. Super nice guide and super nice hike. Shoutout Miquel and highly recommend if you don't mind waking up a little early.

From the meeting of the tour guide Cecila in our accommodation reception throughout the entire walk , she was warm , friendly very informative of our surroundings. A lovely small group of 8 including my wife and myself. Explained history, the wildlife how the area became what it is we see today. Pace of the walk would suit anyone as was a slow fairly level walk. Some terrain at times but nothing to tricky ( though my wife and I did fall over once each in the snow :).). More our doing. We even got to see 2 mooses 🫎 Again thank you to Cecila and I recommend this tour to all that visit the area.
