Sigiriya Lion Rock
Sigiriya is home to the 5th Century “Fortress in the Sky” which is perhaps the most fantastic single wonder of the Island. It is also known as Lion Rock because of the huge lion that used to stand at the entrance to the fortress. Within its triple-moated defence the huge rock rises almost to a sheer height of 500ft. On its summit are the foundations of what was once a great and sumptuous palace and gardens complete with swimming pool. On one of the stairways the only known ancient work of Sinhala secular painting survived in the form of Frescoes of life sized damsels in all the freshness and delicacy of their original colour.

Minneriya National Park
The Minneriya National Park is famed for its “Elephant Gathering”, a spectacular phenomenon during the long dry seasons, when hundreds of Elephants, both the adults and young along with a few tuskers, sometimes numbering close to 200 can be seen feeding on the grasslands bordering the tank, with others cooling off in the giant tank. This annual event considered to be the largest Wild Elephant gathering in South Asia attracts many wildlife enthusiasts to take on a safari in Minneriya National Park to observe and experience this unique wildlife spectacle. In addition to the Elephant attraction at the Park, it also has an abundance of wildlife which makes it a preferred destination to go on a safari. This includes 24 species of mammals.

Udawalawe National Park is a national park on the boundary of Sabaragamuwa and Uva Provinces in Sri Lanka. The park was created to provide a sanctuary for wild animals displaced by the construction of the Udawalawe Reservoir on the Walawe River, as well as to protect the catchment of the reservoir. 5.00We’d been planning our December/January Sri Lanka trip for many months. As part of our preparation, ensuring that we secured a reliable, responsive, affordable and safe driver was our number one priority for our almost 3 weeks touring around Sri Lanka. We spent many weeks researching and communicating with several options before deciding on Sri Lanka Personal Chauffeurs. From the first time we contacted Sri Lanka Personal Chauffeurs we knew we were dealing with a professional company who would ensure our family of five was well looked after during our trip. The correspondence we received from Mathisa prior to, and during our trip, was outstanding and at all times we felt like we were being looked after by Mathisa as his own family. This included just after the devastating floods/landslides in early December when Mathisa helped us create a Plan B for our itinerary in case Plan A wouldn’t work due to road closures. Note, we were able to proceed with Plan A as everything is back to normal in Sri Lanka now! Mr Saman was our allocated driver and he was very safe, polite, and shared his love and knowledge of all the areas we visited during our time in Sri Lanka. Over nearly three weeks we covered Colombo, Negombo, Anuradhapura, Jaffna, Sigiriya, Kandy, Nuwara Eliya, Ella, Yala and Galle. Mr Saman knows how to navigate the Sri Lankan roads and other drivers (which can be hectic at times!), and we felt very assured we were with him. Mr Saman made sure we had the best tables at the restaurants we wanted to dine at, found us safe roadside stalls/shops to eat the local treats we wanted (like wood apple, rambutan, buffalo curd, kalu dodal, maliban and pan rolls!), he secured front row seats to cultural shows for us and booked the best Safari tour options for us at both Minneriya National Park and Yala National Park. Thanks to Mr Saman and the excellent safari tours he booked for us we saw herds of elephants up close at Minneriya and even witnessed the elusive leopard at Yala! Mr Saman even decorated our van with balloons and signs (and bought a cake!) on the day of my 15 year old’s birthday - so thoughtful! We felt like VIPs during our whole trip thanks to the efforts of everyone at Sri Lanka Personal Chauffeurs. We received a warm welcome at the airport on our arrival to Sri Lanka by Mr Thilak and Mr Saman, including gifts, and an equally thoughtful gift on our departure, along with personal heartfelt goodbyes from everyone. We left Sri Lanka with new dear friends in Mathisa, Mr Thilak and Mr Saman. We highly recommend Sri Lanka Personal Chauffeurs and Mr Saman for your Sri Lanka touring needs. We cannot thank Mathisa, Mr Thilak and Mr Saman enough for all the care, support and kindness we were shown during our amazing trip to Sri Lanka. We created lasting family memories and made new dear friends with everyone at Sri Lanka Personal Chauffeurs.

5.00Hiring a private driver in Sri Lanka was undoubtedly the best decision of the trip. From the first contact, the service was extremely professional, punctual and attentive. Our driver, sir. Saman not only drove safely – something essential on the busy roads of Sri Lanka – but also demonstrated knowledge of the country, culture and the best routes. Along the way, he shared stories, local curiosities and suggestions from places we would never have discovered alone: small hidden temples, perfect viewpoints to see sunsets and authentic restaurants where we tasted some of the best meals of the trip. The car was comfortable, clean and air-conditioned, which made all the difference on long distances. We always felt in good hands — with flexibility on the itinerary, a lot of sympathy and zero rush. I recommend this service 100% to anyone who wants to explore Sri Lanka with tranquility, safety and the company of someone truly dedicated to providing a memorable trip. 5.00Our drivers (Thilak and Saman) were both professional, friendly and very accommodating. Having a driver gave us the flexibility to explore Sri Lanka at our own pace and make the detours we wanted to along the way. They helped to make our trip really special and so easy. We had lots of early mornings (4.30am starts for sunrise hikes) and they never complained or made us feel like it was an inconvenience. On one occasion, we left an important personal item behind in another city and Saman kindly drove back to collect it for us. We highly recommend both Thilak and Saman and are grateful for the experience they gave us.

5.00We were a family of 4 With 2 children aged 3 and 10 And we had a great experience with Srilanka Personal. Drivers during our 15-day tour. Our drivers Thilak and Nilanga were very professional, very helpful, punctual, kind and patient with our children. They showed us some parts of Srilanka that would not have been seen without them and they taught us a lot about this beautiful country. They can also organize negotiated excursions at attractive prices (safaris, shows...), or put you in touch with locals... The Van was also very clean and comfortable. Communication is very simple and efficient through whatsapp. We strongly recommend to use their services for all those who want to visit Srilanka in total relaxation at a very reasonable price. Our trip to Srilanka was wonderful in large part because of them. Merci.

He ended up being not only our driver, but translator at times, negotiator, helped my husband get some tops and after a glitch with accommodation, sorted us out beautifully in another hotel. We will never forget fresh juice on the side of the road, buffalo curd and the elephants! We highly recommend Thilak and a big thank you to you for all that you did : )
