A beautiful city situated on the banks of the river Neretva, known for the Old Bridge, the city’s landmark built by the Ottomans in the 16th century, is also listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The major development of the city was done during the 15th and 16th centuries as an Ottoman frontier town, and also during the Austro-Hungarian period, which can be evidenced in its architecture.
