Set against the brilliant blue of the Caribbean sea and sky, our Visitor Experience invites guests from around the world to discover the secrets behind Barbados' finest spirit. Greeted in our lush green garden, visitors will explore the history, heritage and craft of Mount Gay Rum while enjoying a rum tasting to complete the experience.

Mount Gay Visitor Experience

Tour times - 9:30, 10:30, 11:30, 12:30, 1:30, last tour 2:30. On the Signature Rum Tasting you will learn about the rich history of Mount Gay Rum after meeting your Brand Host, the tour will kick off with complimentary welcome Rum Punch. While you enjoy your cocktail your host will take you on a journey through the Legacy Museum which offers visitors a fascinating glimpse into the illustrious history of Mount Gay Rum and the island of Barbados. From there, you will view a short film which gives an explanation of the process of how Mount Gay rums are produced. Next, you will be taken to the Tasting Room where you will enjoy an experience of flavour of 3 Mount Gay rums. Your host will walk you through the tasting explaining the differences between each rum that you taste.  To complete the tasting, you will then be taken to the Signature Bar for a chance to indulge in some wonderfully crafted cocktails with the very knowledgeable mixologists.  After the tasting, make sure to visit the gift shop to purchase some bottles or souvenirs for yourself. Some of the rums can only be purchased on the island! You can also enjoy finger foods or lunch for purchase at the Live Grill.

    Brilliant tour around the distillery - the tour guide was informative and funny. Afterwards a rum tasting. Great fun! I would really recommend this tour.

    I went on this tour with my husband and teenage son. I was expecting grumbles from both but everyone really enjoyed it. Teenagers don’t have a great attention span but the tour guide made it so interesting that everyone was engrossed. There is a welcome cocktail, then a talk about the history of how rum was discovered and developed. There was a short film then down to business: the rum tasting. Whatever I thought I knew about rum, was nonsense. I was really pleasantly surprised by the amount of blending and maturing for each type of rum. The tour was rounded off with a very delicious lunch. It tasted home cooked and delicious. I’ve definitely been converted to drinking and appreciating rum now!

    This experience is at the visitors centre, not the actual distillery - but was still fun & informative regardless! Learnt alot about the company & rum.

    We did the rum tasting tour and thoroughly enjoyed it. The tour included an overview of Mount Gay's history and the rum making process as well as the tasting. Our tour guide Damien was outstanding.

    The rum tasting was fabulous. The host was amazing. He was so knowledgeable and funny. I only gave it 4 stars because you have to stand while doing the tasting. It’s a long time to stand. Plus you stand during part of the presentation. You sit during the movie. Add chairs and it would be 5/5!

    Docked for a cruise. The distillery was fully booked. This was still a great option to get to quickly from the ship and enjoy a good tasting. Our guide was charming and knowledgeable. Put on a good tour

    The rug tasting experience was great, 10/10 right mixture of information &rum. It was worth the price i paid and we maybe stayed there 2 ish hours or so. The crowd size was perfect, its was about 4 of us and then a later addition of 2 more. Best for solo travelers, couples or friends! Thanks mount gay team!

    This was my wife’s and I first time in Barbados and we loved this experience. We had a great time and our guide was the best. He was very knowledgeable and friendly. He was also very entertaining and kept us laughing but also engaged the whole time. Definitely worth the price. I would do this again.
