Arakura Fuji Sengen Shrine
Arakura Fuji Sengen Shrine, also known as Chureito Pagoda (忠霊塔, Chūreitō) is a five storied pagoda on the mountainside overlooking Fujiyoshida City and Mount Fuji off in the distance. The pagoda is part of the Arakura Sengen Shrine and was built as a peace memorial in 1963 nearly 400 steps up the mountain from the shrine's main buildings. The location offers spectacular views of Mount Fuji in combination with the pagoda. The spot is particularly popular among photographers as it allows for some wonderfully stereotypical shots of Japan.

Start with it was rainy, and there’s no controlling that. After a 2:45 drive, longer due to traffic, we started with an ice cave. After seeing the number of steps, I asked how strenuous it would be with bad knees. They showed me a staircase on a security cam. It was uneven, wet from weather, rock stairs leading to a narrow short passage to see ice. Then we went to a little artisan village. A walk around. Lunch was at a fast food place, which took a very long time to deliver the very tasty ramen (the food was the trip highlight) The guide was really pushing to go to the outlets, but we wanted to see the lake. We went to a spot which looked like a junk yard with debris next to the lake, although we could see swans in the water. Views were nil because of the weather, again, not anyone’s fault. This was a private tour and our guide was more a chauffeur, silently taking us from location to location, then waiting for us in the car. We arrived back at our hotel at precisely 6 PM, running to get in to rest rooms. We were in Japan for 14 days. This was by far the worst experience. Arguably the worst 4 experiences, if you itemize. By the way, look at the above itinerary, and then at what is listed as the itinerary. At the beginning he mentioned the rain hindered the plans. I said we trust your judgement. My warning: this was an expensive boondoggle that was not just a waste of time, but a waste of a precious day in Tokyo! Don’t. Just don’t.

Most of our time was spent in travelling. Due to bad weather, we could not get any glimpse of Mt. Fuji from any point. The itinerary is too promising but the traffic and travel does not leave any scope to cover even 50% of the listed places. Even on a good day, you cannot cover all the places that they promise to take you to. The driver was barely communicating. We had to keep checking with him about the next spot and the plan. He did not have any information or insight about the places visited.

Worst service this is not a tour this is just a driver with car who doesn’t know anything. The standard answer is i don’t know. Please ignore this company.

Very nice and friendly driver. Saw some beautiful places. Unfortunately could not see Mount Fuji due to cloud cover. Made many recommendations on sites to see while in Tokyo over the next several days.

Great way to step out of Tokyo and see a different side of Japan. Friendly English speaking guide. Would recommend to families.
