This tour is unique in that you will be on guided shorter hikes in Mt. Rainier National Park. From November to June snowshoes/crampons will be provided when necessary since there is often snow on the trails in those months.
We hike a few miles throughout the day and you will experience diverse landscapes and scenery such as glaciers, mountains, waterfalls, rivers, lakes, and tall trees in old-growth forest which are all the highlights in Mount Rainier National Park.
(In the winter areas of the park may be closed some days and not all highlights will be accessible at times).

Mount Rainier
We drive to Mt. Rainier National Park (2 hours) and hike from the visitor center at Paradise for about a mile where we picnic close to some giant glaciers. We then hike back for a mile and drive to viewpoints with panoramic views and we see the Narada Falls and the Christine Falls, old growth forests with a thousand year old big trees and the Reflection Lakes. In Winter and Spring seasons (November-June) we will snowshoe rather than hiking - no experience required.

Overall this tour was fantastic. The guide Susan has great information about the environment and suggestions for the best viewpoints. She was also incredibly patient during the hike and made sure that everyone made it to the next vista. You will get in about 2.5 miles of hiking but all hikes are not built the same. The first at the Mt was a challenge because the incline is steep, but the picnic spot at the end of it was epic. Lunch isn't included but there is a stop beforehand to pickup picnic items, snacks, so it worked out well for us since we got to eat what we wanted. One thing to note is the drive down is lengthy, so bring your patience and a book. You get mountains, waterfalls and just a great day without having to worry about the twisty mountain roads. Because we went in August, we also got so many wildflowers.

If you don’t drive or don’t feel like driving, then this tour may be for you. I don’t recommend it just because it will be cheaper and more enjoyable if you do it by yourself. The only advantage of the tour is having someone to do the drive. So maybe hire a driver instead. That said, Mt. Rainer is worth a visit. Beautiful views, lots of hiking and nature sightseeing.

Suggest signing up for the earliest departure time: we had almost a hour wait to get into the National Park after a two-hour ride from Seattle. First hike was uphill and more strenuous than described. That said, Mt Ranier was beautiful in August—clear weather and beautiful wildflowers!

in summer months, expect wait of up to half an hour at the Paradise entrance to Mt. Rainier National Park.
