The Bu Maher Fort Visitor’s Center is the starting point to discovering more about the Pearling Path that has been designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The center contains a three-dimensional display that guides the viewer though the history of the path and the houses which formed it from the early beginnings to the main pearling traders.
Al Ghus House – the pearl diver house – is thought to have been built by a boat captain (Nukhidhah), a captain’s second-in-command, or perhaps a master boatbuilder in the first decade of the 20th century and is said to have been inhabited and used by related divers.

5.00A Fantastic Cultural Experience on the Pearling Path. I am new to Bahrain and wanted to truly understand the island’s rich history and warm culture. I can’t recommend the Pearling Path Tour with Khalid enough, it was such a nice half day out in Bahrain. Khalid was an exceptional guide — incredibly friendly, welcoming, and full of knowledge/history about Bahrain’s pearling heritage and wider culture/history. His narration brought the history to life and his passion for sharing his country’s culture really shone through to all the guests/visitors. The tour itself was well paced, especially considering the hot weather. It had balance between historical highlights and cultural immersion starting the tour with a lovely boat journey, which added a lovely touch of adventure and connection to Bahrain’s pearl divers... which is what the tour is all about. One of my favorite parts was the local Bahraini breakfast — a delicious and authentic experience that gave us a real taste of Bahraini food. Khalid made sure everyone felt comfortable and well taken care of throughout, offering stops for water/beverages at well places stops, we stopped to speak in the shade, and could openly ask questions and discuss things as a group. Overall, this tour was fun, insightful, and well organised — the right length for a Bahraini day. Khalid’s hospitality and enthusiasm made it a great experience for expats in Bahrain or anyone who is visiting. I would do other tours with Khalid based off of the experience I had on this tour.

5.00I had an incredible experience exploring Bahrain with Khalid’s tour. We started the day with a beautiful boat trip, followed by a walking tour packed with fascinating stories and explanations about Bahrain’s rich history and culture. Khalid’s passion and deep knowledge made every moment engaging and meaningful. One of the highlights was stopping to watch locals prepare fresh bread right in front of us—served warm with delicious cheese. Later, we enjoyed a traditional Bahraini breakfast at another spot, which was both authentic and flavorful. This tour offers the perfect balance of sightseeing, cultural immersion, and amazing food. It gave me a much deeper appreciation for Bahrain and its traditions. Highly recommended for anyone wanting a truly authentic experience!

5.00Really nice tour of the history of Bahrain. Went in not knowing what to expect but was amazed at how interesting it all was. Star of the show was certainly the talented tour guide, Khaled, very nice energy and very good knowledge and easy to speak to and ask any questions. I would recommend going in the cooler months as we went in the end of May where the weather begins to get really really hot. Tour started with a boat ride from the museum to the other side where the pearl route begins with a walk through the whole route and a great explanation of all the history. Ended with a traditional breakfast followed by a ride back to the museum where you can look around before heading home if you wish.

5.00Bottom line: seamless, excellent, informative, delicious. Khalid, the guide, is an absolute professional, yet friendly and accessible, making the whole group feel at ease right from the beginning. In addition to being super knowledgeable, the tour felt adapted to our pace and interests. I personally appreciated his photo suggestions along the way and him taking good photos, as I showed up alone on the tour. The breakfast at the end of the tour is incredible (and big), so don’t fill up too much before the tour. Khalid had fostered such a great energy within the group that the discussions and sharing from him and the rest of the group at the breakfast was a great surprise and enjoyable way to end our time together.

5.00Ever wondered what Bahrain’s major industry was before today’s oil? I did, and this fun and fascinating tour gave me the answer, then revealed the lives of those who delivered the “goods” in a unique way. I had a wonderful few hours with guide Khaled and fellow tourists as we walked and talked around Muharraq. At the end of the tour, I enjoyed the delicious Bahraini feast spread out on a table underneath a shading tree with a light breeze as a kind of reward. If you’re curious about Bahrain’s legacy, delight in storytelling, and appreciate the company of a knowledgeable, authentic and easygoing tour guide like Khaled, I’d highly recommend doing this tour!
