• Exhilarating - Paragliding with Pablo from Birg

  I have done paragliding from lower altitudes. I wanted a high altitude experience and this activity gave me just that. Pablo was my pilot. He and all the other pilots in his team are very experienced and friendly. Pablo gave clear instructions and what to expect, both prior to and during the flight. This made the experience very reassuring and comfortable. The event itself was exhilarating. The views of the peaks, the little villages of Mürren and Gimmelwald and the Lauterbrunnen valley were gorgeous. Pablo took several pictures and videos of our flight. I paid 40CHF to get them. He transferred them to my phone. What to expect: The flight is from Birg, which is a Gondola ride away from Mürren on the Schilthornbahn line. It costs around 35CHF (17 CHF with a Swiss travel pass or half fare card). This is not included in the cost. I knew about this before, by reading other reviews. But, other passengers were surprised. Birg is nearly 1000 metres above Mürren. So, it is pretty cold. We walked through a snowy and somewhat slippery path from the gondola station to the launch point. Paragliding is very weather dependent. You need the right level and direction of wind to be able to take off. We had to wait for nearly 1.5 hours to take off (and I am glad we did.) You need to be able to run 10 to 15 paces at a decent pace to be able to takeoff. I have often heard people say that you jump off a cliff to paraglide and that scares them. You never jump. You just run and the wind lifts the paraglider. So, it is a takeoff in a real sense, rather than a jump. Will I do this again? Absolutely. The only thing that may do different is to get myself a face mask or scarf to cover my face, since the winds during the early part of the flight were quite cold.   Amazing experience 10/10!! Had so much fun paragliding with this company. Simon and Seline were very helpful and guided us what to do while we were paragliding. I definitely recommend these two esp if this is your first time paragliding. They answered all our questions and it was fun paragliding and being that high up. I recommend to friends and family 10/10 I plan on coming again

  We visited Switzerland for our honeymoon and decided to parasail with Switzerland Paragliding. We had Pablo, and Vincent pilot our flights, and they were wonderful! They made us feel so comfortable, pointing out fantastic views. Pablo wrote us Friday to let us know that Saturday wasnt looking good for paragliding because of a storm that had rolled in, but said he was available Sunday instead for any time that could fit into our schedule. I'm so glad he did because Sunday was perfect! By far the best excursion we had while in Switzerland!! Would recommend to everyone, the experience is one of a kind.

  They were an amazing crew. We were a bit nervous but they made us feel comfortable. Took videos during the flight (extra cost after). The experience was worth every penny.

  Pilot met me in a timely manner. We walked down to the takeoff area from Brig. I was supposed to do it yesterday, but was rescheduled due to cloud coverage. I was given choice to reschedule or cancel. I would suggest booking for the beginning of your trip in case you need to reschedule due to weather. Today was clear blue skies. We ended up going to a second launch site where the wind was good. It was awesome. A must do. We glided for quite awhile before we went over Murren. Highly recommend this

  The highlight of our trip to Switzerland! There is not a better way to enjoy the Alps. The pilots were incredible and we had the time of our lives.

• Weather Didn't Cooperate in Birg

  It's difficult to rate our experience, because our booking had to be canceled, but I want to share about the circumstances so other travelers can be informed. We specifically chose this paragliding flight over another popular one in Lauterbrunnen because this one took off from Birg, whereas the other one took off from Murren. Birg is at a higher elevation, which means that for about the same price as the other company you get a longer flight, so this seemed like a better deal. And it would've been...if we'd actually flown. Our flight was originally scheduled for a Tuesday, but Pablo reached out on Monday to reschedule due to poor weather conditions, and so we rescheduled to Friday (the next forecasted sunny day in the week). Well, the next day on Tuesday, the weather was a bit overcast, but nothing serious. It turns out that paragliding flights were still taking off from Murren that day, and we saw many in the sky. I was bummed that ours seemed to have been canceled prematurely, since others were still flying. Then Friday comes around, and even though it was sunny in the valley, it was whiteout fog up in Birg, so our flight was canceled a second time (couldn't reschedule bc we were leaving the area). And again on Friday, paragliding flights were still taking off from Murren. So two different times we were canceled due to weather, while the Murren flights continued to go on as scheduled. All that to say, this might be the better option compared to the Murren flights IF the weather cooperates. But you probably have a much better chance of actually flying if you use the other company departing from Murren. Obviously, safety comes first so if it needed to be canceled, that's understandable. But it felt like they were canceled hastily, or at least canceled much more frequently than the company in Murren. I also want to say that Pablo was extremely kind and responsive, and we were refunded promptly. When we rescheduled from Tuesday to Friday, he even offered to personally drive us from the landing site in Stechelberg back to Lauterbrunnen so we could make our train and try to accommodate us. It's just unfortunate that it ended up being canceled both times.

• Trip of a lifetime in the Swiss Alps. The paragliding was the icing on the küchen!!!

  Best excursion ever. Hands down. We were uninformed that we needed to buy a ticket to Birg from Mürren. But once we did that, we were on our way! The guys met us and we all went up together to Birg and then a short hike to the takeoff site. Dario and Janek were absolutely professional with my husband and me. • Magical Experience!

  I signed my family up for Paragliding in this magical valley! Pablo and his team were great! We took off from a quiet spot higher than the other paragliding teams, where all we could hear were the sheep bells on the mountain side behind us. This was the best day of our trip to Switzerland!
