  We had a great trip to Kuala Selangor with Selva. He was a very considerate driver and an excellent guide. First stop was a Hindu temple where he provided great insights into the religion and history of the temple. A quick stop at the hillfort gave us a chance to see the friendly monkeys. Then a short trip to an authentic riverside restaurant with excellent seafood at reasonable prices. The boat trip started at sunset, first upstream to see the amazing fireflies, like fairy lights in the trees, and then downstream to the river mouth to find the blue tears. On this particular night the water depth and temperature meant we didn’t see them as portrayed on the website images, but we were provided with small nets which we used to could catch the plankton which glowed blue in the net. A great experience enhanced by Selva’s explanations and service.

  A fun experience. But moderate yiur expectations. While we were able to see both the fireflies and the blue tears, we got to know that since they are nature related, there are factors such as weather etc that can influence the sightings.

  The whole ride was super organized. Our driver Sasidren was a very good guide and explained everything to us and responded to our wishes. Top!!!

  We booked the Fireflies & Blue Tears Tour as a private tour and had a genuinely great evening. The experience itself was beautiful, but what really made it stand out was our guide Selva. Selva is a local, knows the area extremely well, and clearly has a lot of experience. You can tell that he genuinely enjoys his job and really cares about giving guests the best possible experience. He was professional and well organized, yet very easy to talk to, which made the tour feel relaxed and personal. His easygoing attitude and great sense of humor made the evening especially enjoyable. We were picked up directly at our hotel, Selva was perfectly on time, and everything ran smoothly from start to finish. Along the way, we visited Sri Shakthi Dhevasthanam, stopped at Bukit Melawati to see the Silverleaf Monkeys, and passed through a traditional fishing village, which added a really nice cultural aspect to the experience. The fireflies and the blue tears were the highlight of the tour at the end of the evening. Highly recommended, especially if you’re lucky enough to have Selva as your guide.

  Tour Driver communication was early and often ensuring we were aligned on the day. Car was nice and clean. Driver was nice.

  Kelvin our transporter ensured a memorable outing. Punctual, friendly and never a bored moment. The firefly and blue tears created nice memories.

  We had a wonderful experience on the Blue Tears and Fireflies tour with Kelvin as our guide. He was knowledgeable and friendly, and the tour was well paced, organised, and felt personal rather than rushed, with plenty of time to enjoy each moment. Seeing the monkeys up close and personal, the fireflies and the glowing plankton was an unforgettable natural phenomenon. We’re vegetarian, and Kelvin was thoughtful and accommodating, finding alternative activities for us instead of the seafood restaurant experience. We finally got to try durian 🙂 We highly recommend this tour, especially with Kelvin as your guide.

  Wow! What an amazing day! We enjoyed each stop on the itinerary. The temple was stunning! The monkeys in Bukit Melawati were enchanting. We enjoyed eating delicious coconut prawn and scallops while we waited for sunset, but the highlight of it all was the river boat cruise. Fireflies twinkled along the shoreline, like natural Christmas trees and we had so much fun seeing the bioluminescence. Our tour guide Kelvin made everything easy from pickup to drop off, and was so kind and full of information along the route. Don’t miss out! Book this tour if you’re in the KL area.

  The driver was very polite and friendly, but not really a tour guide. He dropped us off at places and then we were waiting for the activity. The fireflies was interesting to see but a long way to travel to see for a very short period of time. The luminescence is not guaranteed but wasn’t very impressive.

  It was a great experience! Our driver, Kevin, was very friendly and helpful. We saw the fireflies and blue tears. The sky was cloudy, that’s why we were able to see the blue tears. We also get to feed the monkeys. It was a private trip. The car was clean and we had a great time learning about the culture from the driver. The dinner was delicious. Highly recommended!
