Transportation is every 15 minutes, from the official parking lot, which is located 1 km from the reserve, where you leave your car safely, said parking has a cost of $5.

Upon arriving at the reserve you will be able to use the restrooms before entering the forest, we will take one of the 5 trails. Already in the forest during each step of the tour, the idea is to enjoy nature and learn a little about the interaction of the species in this cloud forest, its importance and of course we will try to observe and perhaps even photograph some of the species that They call this forest Home.

If you're wanting to have a guide for the Cloud Forest, I would absolutely recommend Luis. He was so fantastic! He has great communication, has a great quality scope, and is very enthusiastic about the ecology and nature of the Cloud Forest. We passed so many guides who looked bored and uninterested in what they were doing. Luis is passionate about the Cloud Forest, and really taught us a lot about the animals and plants that live there. His enthusiasm is infectious and made the hike that much more fun. He started off by asking what we were hoping to see on the hike, and I told him I really wanted to see a Quetzal. Well, he found me a tail of a Quetzal (it was behind a branch on a tree very far away) - I was thrilled to get to see one, even if it was only a resplendent tail. Luis was the guide that all the other guides were mooching off of, because Luis found the animals. We saw a pit viper, lots of birds, and spiders. We were just walking along towards the end of our hike, and he suddenly stopped, sniffs the air, and turned to our daughter and said, "What do you smell?" She says, "Poop." He says, "EXACTLY!" Then he looked to the trees and found a whole troupe of Howler monkeys playing! Of course, then came the other guides who set up their scopes to watch the monkeys that Luis found. He really is amazing. Very affordable, very knowledgeable, and so much fun. Book him!

Very informative tour with Luis Vega who shared with us his knowledge and passion. We experienced and appreciated so much more than we would have on our own. The tour was easy to arrange and all info we needed beforehand was communicated. Highly recommend!

Luis was an exceptional guide with an obvious passion for his work. He is extremely knowledgeable and has a great way of sharing his knowledge and experience. Would highly recommend using him for a guided tour of the area. He also does night tours that we were unaware of and would have done one with him as well. The guides have so much more to share and one misses so much when you try to do it on your own. We would not have seen nearly as much is we had done it ourselves. Amazing experience.

If you are looking for an expert tour guide to see and learn about the diverse species of flora and fauna in Monteverde, look no further than Louis! He is incredibly knowledgeable and passionate about biodiversity and tourism, making our tour an unforgettable experience. Louis showed us a wide variety of bird animal and plant species within the cloud forest, sharing fascinating information and patiently answering all our questions. His enthusiasm is contagious, and he went above and beyond to ensure we had the best time possible. Our scheduled 2-hour tour extended way beyond because Louis was determined to help us see all the species we were hoping for including the striped pit viper, the mottled owl and the resplendent quetzal. He has a sharp eye and is patient to allow you ample time taking in the views of all the beautiful bird and animal species. I highly recommend Luis for anyone interested in a deep and engaging exploration of Monteverde’s incredible wildlife. Thank you, Luis, for an exceptional experience!

Luis is an amazing guide, made us feel comfortable since the beginning. He is very knowledgeable, entertaining and friendly, which all of our group really appreciated. We even saw 5 Quetzals. He is simply the best!

Luis is a great guide who knows everything there is to know about plants and animals in the cloud forest. He only travels in small groups and we were even lucky enough to be the only two participants. He speaks very good English and without batting an eyelid he turned what was supposed to be a two and a half hour tour into a four hour tour. A great guide in every respect.
