  We had such a lovely time spending A Day in the Bay Ltd. One of the biggest highlights for me was learning about the history of the White and Pink Terraces the storytelling around this was so in-depth and genuinely fascinating, it really brought the area to life. I chose to do this experience on my own first to test the waters before bringing my young children, and I’m so glad I did. I can confidently say it’s perfect for kids under 8 years old. There’s no huge distances to walk, and plenty of water was provided throughout the trip, which made it feel very family-friendly. Knowing how boisterous my kids are and that they don’t cope well with too much walking, it was reassuring to see how manageable and well thought out the day was. • Perfect Introduction for Overseas Travellers, also special for locals

  As locals, we wanted to try something a little different and experience our own backyard in a new way, so we booked a day with A Day in the Bay Ltd with our children (aged 9 and 8) and it exceeded expectations. We visited places I remembered from my own childhood, alongside spots I’d never been to before. Our tour guide had incredible knowledge of the area, and I loved soaking up the history of our own country here in New Zealand. It was a full, packed day, but completely stress-free being driven around meant we could truly relax and enjoy every moment. The highlight for me was the shinny dip and a glass of sav at the secret hot tubs in Rotorua absolute bliss. Despite all the walking and sightseeing, the kids handled the day brilliantly and even fell asleep in the van on the way home (a win in itself!). Top tip: a blow-up travel pillow from Mitre 10 fits perfectly in a handbag and is a lifesaver for the ride home. Huge thanks to Meg, our tour guide patient, kind, hilarious, and truly the hostess with the mostest. This experience would be a perfect introduction for overseas travellers, while also being just as special for locals wanting to see familiar places through fresh eyes. Visiting local was by far the best choice, and we’d absolutely recommend it.
