You'll admire the wildlife that made the Barataria Swamps the Crown Jewel of the Louisiana Purchase. Here, birds, snakes, turtles, fur animals, and gators - the king of the swamp - are easily spotted in Spring, Summer, and Fall.

Folding wheelchairs are allowed, but the driver is not allowed to pick up a person to help them gain entrance. The customer must get into the minibus by themselves or with assistance from family or friends.
Please note you are not guaranteed to see a gator. They hibernate in winter months but are easily spotted in spring, summer, and fall.
Service animals are permitted.
Emotional support animals are not permitted.

Our tour boats feature a roof, cushioned seats, windows that can be raised or lowered for the weather, restroom, and plenty of standing and walking room. 2.00We were all disappointed with the experience and wished we spent the time and money on much more informative and ecologically responsible activities. The guide shared a few facts about alligators but really didn't know much of anything else about swamp ecology, flora, or fauna. This boat is quite large so it can't really get "into" the swamp - rather we rode next to swampy land at the edge of a large lake. This "swamp" has wide, straight channels cut through it. It's not immersive or intimate at all - no tree canopy overhead or sections where the boat cut through narrow passages. The guide fed 3/4 of a bag of marshmallows to an alligator smaller than me and it's obvious this gator was a regular. It felt so irresponsible. Toward the end of the trip we spent fully a half hour just sitting still while everyone handed around a tiny gator the guide brought along and the. We expected a trip dense with information while viewing a variety of swamp life settings. We got a pretty boring boat ride that felt exploitive more than respectful and responsible about the nature in which it operated. Any zoo reptile house would have provided more of what we hoped to get from this trip.

5.00Our tour guide Ian was amazing you can see he truly has a passion for this. He took his time explaining everything and helped out when it was time to meet Fluffy the baby gator. He was so funny he has us laughing the entire cruise, we got to throw the marshmallows in the water he made sure we got ample pictures with the gators . Did the booking with the transportation our driver was running a few minutes behind but we still made it on time to our tour. Our hotel was on the opposite side for us just to cross to go in he made sure we crossed the street safely before driving away.

5.00This was a great tour! The bus driver and boat captain were both amazing and gave lots of info. The boat ride itself was really nice and we saw a lot of alligators. Would highly recommend.
Great insight into the history of the swamp and its animal residents.

5.00The tour was fantastic and Captain Ernie was so knowledgeable and funny. He reminded us that it was a swamp tour, not a gator tour, but we were lucky to see a number of gators and tons of the beautiful swamp. Highly recommend but manage your expectations on seeing wildlife depending upon the time of year.
