The reindeer and the Sami have been living and working on this land for centuries and they have only recently invited guests to be part of their daily life. You will visit their camp and have a chance to feed the herd of around 300 wild reindeer who will swarm all around and some will even eat from your hands. You will also enjoy a 15-20 minute sleigh ride pulled by the reindeer. You will then be invited for hot drinks around the fire inside a warm candle lit gamme (Traditional Sami Hut) where a relaxed three course meal will be served, including bidos cooked over the open fire (a traditional Sami stew).
After dinner you will be invited into a lavvu (Sami tent) and gather round the fire to listen to stories about Sami culture and how it is to be a reindeer herder. The Sami guide will also perform a joik (traditional Sami song) for the guests. If you are lucky and the sky is clear you will have a chance to see the northern lights above the reindeer camp.

Wonderful. We went for the Reindeer and the Sami culture. We got actually what we wanted 😊. Mother Nature gave us rain but we gained much more in the experience. All ages can experience and enjoy. No matter the weather. Life grows with seeing in person.

This could have been organised better. We were put on a bus with no explanation and drove off. We had no idea where we were going and how long it would take to get there. You need a tour guide on board or at least an explanation on boarding. We then fed the reindeer and waited for our sleigh tour. This left a lot of space for another possible activity which was wasted. The meal was very poor, just a bowl of soup. We were all hungry and bought some food when we returned to Tromso. The explanation of the culture was excellent though. At the end we were rushed on to the buses with no opportunity to see the Northern Lights which were out there. Would I go again -- no, a lot of money but should be better organised

After a short bus journey, we arrived at the camp, greeted by Ana and Luna. After a brief introduction to the evening, we were sent to feed some reindeer and take part in some reindeer sledding! Both activities were great fun (the female reindeer prodding at you gently with their antlers to get access to your feed buckets was funny and the short sledding trip was nice under the night sky). We then had hot beverages (tea/coffee/hot chocolate) and were offered the 3 course meal (I had the vegetarian option which was nice). The meal was slightly interrupted in the best way - the Aurora came out and was beautiful in the sky. The last part of the evening was spent listening to our Sami guides tell us more about their culture, the reindeer and answering any of our questions. I definitely recommend this trip!

Absolutely fantastic experience- the staff were so friendly and informative. We were also lucky enough to see the Aurora and there were plenty of opportunities to watch and take photos. The reindeer were very well looked after and really enjoyed getting to feed them and see more about their little personalities (some sassier than others). Would recommend this trip to anyone!

Great experience, really enjoyed hearing more about Sami culture. Feeding the reindeers was fun, and we were lucky enough to see some auroras whilst there!

5 stars for the very warm and engaging Luna, who sang for us and explained the very interesting history of the Sami people! Unfortunately the reindeer sledding and feeding were quite underwhelming and disappointing as we just sat on a sled and slowly inched a circle around the feeding area in the dark.

This experience was quite expensive, but my daughter and I enjoyed it. The reindeer were lovely and feeding them was fun. The sleigh ride was fairly uneventful but it was a beautiful night with the northern lights up above so we loved it anyway. The food was lovely, and the Sami host was informative and interesting. The only negative for us was that on our date, there was a large Spanish-speaking group, which wasn't an issue (great people!) except that everything had to be translated which was a bit frustrating.

I gave this outing 4 points only because in the description additional info it stated what’s included it mentioned warm overalls and boots if required. Well that evening it was a very wet snow at our 6pm tour. Even though my husband and I were properly dressed, it was never mentioned nor was asked if anyone needed the items mentioned above. Other wise I would have given this tour a 5 star. Lecture, food was great.

At first I had the impression of "mass handling". In the camp itself, however, it was very nice and extensive. The sleigh ride was a small round within the camp, while feeding you had a good opportunity to observe the animals, pet them and take pictures under the northern lights. You could talk to the guides and Samis, it was a very relaxed atmosphere. At dinner you had a very good opportunity to talk to people from all over the world. The food was very delicious - also available as a vegetarian variant (look up for the hungry was no problem 😉). Ole and Mary then shared their stories of the Sami's life. The event was crowned by sensational Northern Lights.

Wow! Everything from start to finish was amazing. The site was very large which was good to see for so many reindeer, they all looked and seemed well looked after and happy, which as a tourist perspective is a key factor when doing animal activities. The feeding was great, plenty of food and time to roam by yourself during this. The sledding was fantastic, and thank you to the staff for taking photos for us. The 3 course meal was outstanding for starter main and desert. And a special thank you to (I have forgotten her name sorry) the Sami girl who afterwards gave us a big talk about Sami culture and lots of interesting information. We were lucky enough that the Northern Lights were really strong for our visit to, with exceptional views to due to area being in low light pollution out of the city area. Short bus ride 25 mins from Tromsø bus terminal. This really was an experience never to forget.
